See this is where i will always disagree, if they fight 10 times prime for prime, Naz wins his fair share.

All we have to go on though is the fight that happened, but Naz was very poor in his last few fights, yet lost by 4 pts to a prime MAB.

However this thread wasn't started for a debate on Barrera, it's a Naz appreciation thread for fans of him, and his fans will obviously rate him highly.

Cannot believe Clinton is 50 btw... oh dear :patsch

Naz was cocky as **** but whether you loved or hated him, he had a unique style, power in both fists and a great chin but often put down when off balance. He provided a lot of great fights and entertaining moments in his career and was exciting as ****. However good you rate him, that can't be denied. I don't have him as a great but still rate him highly.

Seriously I think its sad someone can dedicate so much hate to a great boxer. Was he a ATG, no obvioulsy not. But theres a reason we are sitting here talking about hte guy some 15 years after his peak. He was a remarkable boxer who had the whole world talking about the sport during his peak. Theres not many boxers like that.

Exactly. His achievements may not be ATG worthy but he was still a very good fighter with unreal ability which unfortunately was not matched with dedication and discipline.

He falls just short of ATG imo, but def HOF worthy and on his best day could still beat a few of the FW ATGS.

I think the thing is with Naz is that as his career progressed and he claimed more and more impressive KO's he believed his power would always bail him outta trouble, i mean look at the Barrera fight, he never seemed to be bothered about losing the fight because i think he always thought in the back of his mind that he was gonna find the 1 big shot to put Barrera away

Exactly, he was far too reliant on his power it was his get out of jail card. But look what happened when somebody fought a smart and disciplined fight, he got beat. JMM and Morales would have been able to do the same thing.
