It wasn't luck. It was HBO. And they would've handed Taylor ANOTHER gift decision in this fight, too - if Pavlik hadn't, thankfully, taken matters out of their hands.:yep Sorry HBO, no gift decisions THIS time!:-happy
And look my posting mates, they are already overrating him. KG - P4P or no? Definitley not from my end. 2nd round told a whole new story of Pavlik's overall standing, even though he did do the job well enough. The guy's defence is atrocious, his offensive ability is pretty precise, but a bit sloppy, he's a smart fighter definitely, but he's not too quick, seems to have stamina issue's down the stretch and his footwork is limited. Definitley not P4P level IMO.
In this months rankings he will not enter my P4P rankings no. He is just outside. Dawson, undeservedly so to some, will be in my rankings. Pavlik will not.
I agree, Dawson should be just inside the top 10, now that this puts Hopkins and Wright's (current, not even bashing these guys' legacy) condition into well perspective. I personally would place Pavlik at #12. Too many flaws for either Taylor or Pavlik to be considered P4P quality.
He is gonna be on most people's lists this month anyways. Just not mine. I still think he is the 2nd best MW in the world not the first.
if jermain didn't gas out it would have been over in the 2nd. pavlik is slow and predictable though he hits really hard. he reminds me of gatti...
The bad part about tonight is that we all have to listen to Amsterdam brag for the next month now. No way is Pavlik top 5 P4P. Not even close.
I'm looking for everything to be put into perspective, not self glorification. This is a big step in the right direction with Taylor getting sparked.
Joppy = a former middleweight champion. Good fight, but already lost in brutal fashion to Trinidad and Hopkins (and to some to Eastman). Hopkins = Good wins, but very disputed. Wright = former champion at light middleweight (career weight), no punch even at that weight. Ouma = former beltholder at light middleweight, a volume puncher with average power at that weight. Spinks = former champion at welterweight, beltholder at light heavyweight with no power at 147 or 154 (already KOd at 147). His opposition is not horrible, but not as great as some make it out to be either. Joppy had not fought in a year and is not exactly a spring chicken. Hopkins was a disputed decision twice, Taylor's most impressive wins. He then defended the undisputed middleweight title against blown up light middleweights, with Spinks being a former welterweight - not very impressive for one of the largest middleweights in recent times. Still though, Taylor is a good but not great fighter.
Are you serious??? That is a ridiculous statement. Why are there so many ill-informed idiots posting on here?
Haven't seen the fight yet, but damn, Pavlik proved Ams' theory about Taylor's questionable chin. The list of opponents after the B-Hop fight. And I always thought JT can really hit hard, that is why Hopkins never engaged him in their 2 bouts. It is just that he has an average chin as well..:yep Thanks Pav, I have 1100 vcash now...
