Gennady lost against this guy (Gaydarbek Gaydarbekov) at the 2004 Olympics .

Also at the 2004 Olympics he beat Hassan Ndam Njikam and Jermain Taylor in '98 at the Goodwill Games in New York.

The only 2 guys that defeated this guy (Gaydarbek Gaydarbekov) were 2 cubans in Alexander Jimenez ('94 Junior World Championships in Istanbul, Turkey) and Jorge Gutiérrez (2000 Olympics). The last one defeated Adrian Diaconu by K.O in 1 (2000 Sydney Olympics, MW category).

The question is why these guys like Gaydarbek Gaydarbekov and Jorge Gutiérrez (and many, many others) didn't try to become pros cuz I'm sure that they would've been great pros !:think

I mean out there are lots of talented and real tough fighters but they don't get pros from various reasons but the hypes like Broner and others become "boxing stars". :nut:patsch:-(

Thats why I'm glad to see a top solid amateur fighter like 3G (not American, not Mexican) getting his big chance to be great at pros !

Andre dirrell holds a win over Golovkin. They fought twice I think with Golovkin winning their Olympic fight.

Also Mohammed Hikal in 2005 World championships beat Golovkin.

Still a great amateur career though I read he had over 300 amateur winning all but a few.
