I've got a feeling that he actually lost 8 times as an amateur, not just 5.

    Mohamed Hikal-World Champs 2005
    Eduard Gutknecht-Chemistry Cup 2005
    Nikolay Galochkin-Chowdry Cup 2005
    Gaydarbek Gaydarbekov-Olympics 2004
    Yordanis Despaigne-Olympic test event 2004
    Andre Dirrell-USA/KZH Dual 2003
    Suriya Prasathinpimai-Kings Cup 2002
    Damian Austin-Chemistry Cup 2002

Impressive! If I might ask, how did you come by the information? I have a hell of a time trying to dig out old am. records, or was it just time and hard work? (Would the Olympic test event be a recognised result BTW?)

Source is Strefa (http://amateur-boxing.strefa.pl/Records/Golovkin_Gennadiy.html) though they admit it's only a partial record (as we all know he has many, many more wins than listed).

I think Strefa are always adding results when they get them though so would imagine they may end up adding more over the coming years.

Although it's not as complete as boxrec strefa IS the best source for amateur records :)

He beat Dirrell in the Olympics, lost in a Dual. If it's any consolation he lost by a point in the US.
