As dumb as this thread is in the first place, and as much as Chisora was a good pressure fighter at heavy, it just occurred to me that Marco Huck is a good cruiserweight pressure fighter, if a couple of fights past his best. So I would say that Chisora, Huck, and the WSB fights with Nistor and Joyce are all good examples of victories over pressure fighters.
I get what you’re saying and it’s an interesting point, but the fact is he hasn’t faced anyone like that because he is faster, moves better and feints better. In short, he’s got the advantage because he’s better and has dedicated himself to be so.
I’m of the opinion that Parker will give Usyk more problems than Kabayel. Usyk is (now) a complete boxer and is a master of all styles. I think more complete boxers who can switch between styles will trouble him more than boxers who have great skills in a limited range of skillsets. I would love to see the Kabayel fight, but I just don’t think Kabayel’s - sit in your face and grind it out - style is going to be the answer here.
Like I said, have you ever seen a fighter whose opponents ''got the tactics wrong" as much as Usyk's have? This content is protected This content is protected Why do we never hear this about the opponents of Crawford, Inoue, Bivol, Bam-Rod, Clenelo, Twink, Shakur etc.? Imagine Crawford or Inoue were CWs who had achieved everything Usyk has at CW and HW, winning and unifying all of their belts in their opponent's backyards sans one which was still on the road, never having home advantage outside of one fight in a neighbouring country to their respective homelands, running through a murderer's row of savage punchers, KO artists and legit bangers, many of whom much or way bigger and heavier than them, whilst never having being knocked down, and had gone on a giant slaying tour at HW on route to becoming undisputed, all of these fights against savage punchers, KO artists, giants, savage punching giants coming with a lot or enormous jeopardy Would we hear so much as a peep about their opponents ''getting the tactics wrong" or would they universally be regarded as boxing genius ATG legends?
Chisora is at least close to high level, since he's been floating around world level for the past decade and a bit. He's no world-beater, but he is credible, he is a pressure fighter, and he has competed at a high level for a long time and usually gives a good account. If he weren't "anywhere close to high level," then he wouldn't still be in the sport and he would have been white-washed every time he stepped up. Gassiev is a puncher but he is also a pressure fighter and I think you're being needlessly picky when it comes to defining what a pressure fighter is and who qualifies as one. Gassiev fights moving forward, cuts off the ring, works the body, lets his hands go, and he tries to deny space so he can land hard shots. Therefore, he's a applying pressure to opponents as the main part of how he wins fights, so he's a pressure fighter who just so happens to be a massive puncher.
I just answered your question. Sorry if it seemed abrupt but I don’t think Patersons speed would have caused Usyk any problems.
To his credit though… Gassiev happens to be a top 3 puncher in the sport. At his best at cruiser… probably PFP the most dangerous imo.
Think Kabayel gives Usyk the most trouble and dare I say that I have Kabayel winning that fight Would love to see it
