The only real chance Gamboa has is to hurt Rios early...

Faster, better combination puncher, better movement, better jab, better footwork.

Rios walks people down, has a good chin and hits hard. He is also a good inside fighter and a fairly relentless finisher who smells blood and goes for it. But provided Gamboa can take a shot without falling apart he will outbox Rios and be in and out of range landing at will.

The size and power of Rios could be a problem and if he lands and clearly hurts Gamboa then sure I would expect him to win by stoppage, but if Gamboa fights as I expect him to he will win by late ref stoppage or UD.

I expect Rios to eat a lot of leather.

At this point it's obvious you are Ríos's girlfriend. But you are starting to sound like a worried girlfriend.

Wrong gender for that. Just a fan, just like you or anyother fan is to whomever it is that you or they like. I am confident, not worried.

Weight is key here, how strong either guy is at it. I hope Gamboa has something in the contract regarding Rios coming in over the limit.

I always tend to lean to boxing ability which Gamboa has the advantage in, but he likes to fight to, he may find that lightweights (big lightweights) dont crumble like featherweights do...

IF Gamboa stays sharp for every round he can get a decision, think itll be close though. This will also be the fight where we find out about Gamboa's chin.

I cannot see Gamboa's Chin holding up to Rios unless he gets to him early. Gamboa can crack and he's got a definitive speed and Boxing advantage over Rios but I do not think that his power will be enough at 135 to hurt a legitimate Iron Chinned Warrior like Rios. For all of Rios' technical flaws Gamboa is there to be hit and he has a typical Cuban Glass Jaw. Rios KO4 Gamboa.

Funny thing is I have been thinking that Rios needs to be smart for
the first 4/5 rounds and not get hurt. IF he gets hurt it ruins the fight.
So if Rios makes it to the 5th and then starts putting pressure on. Lots of body shots... Hmmm.

Gamboa should be able to move on Rios.
So less 1 punch KO I see Gamboa making it a bit if hurt early.

Rios will stop Gamboa in 4 rounds, to 7, no more, I'll bump this, I'm actually surprised so many people are picking Gamboa, never thought Rios would be a 20 to 1 favorite against Rios, even in a thread in a Gamboa Site, let alone ESB, 4 to 7 rounds Gamboa gets destroyed, Gamboa has never fought some one like Rios, and Rios has never fought a fighter who was fighting at 130 went down at 126 then now is moving to 135, to fight the #2 in that weight. I trhink Gamboa should pull out from the fight and wait a few years, start by fighting a top 10 to 8 fighter at that weight.

I am heavily favouring Gamboa in this fight ... Rios for me is nothing special .

We look at the weight issue and the one fighter who 135 will effect is Rios he struggled to make weight against Murray so despite the new dietician he will still have issues IMO . Gamboa should have little problem adding the extra in good condition and would expect a little more snap in his work ....

If we look at Rios last two fights Murray and Antillon they were both trade em phone booth fights which played right into Rios hands he is physically stronger than both and in that sort of battle would always come out on top . As I posted on another thread Murrays face is always marked (look after the Kev Mitchell fight) so thats isnt any indication of Rios over ego'd power. Gamboa will come into the ring the much faster and technically gifted fighter and could have Rios gassing for the latter rounds as his workrate will be too much for Rios ... Rios boxes in straight lines and I can imagine Gamboa picking him off then moving away at deceptive angles. It could be a frustrating evening for Rios.

Dont get me wrong in a brawl Rios is the man but this wont be a brawl unless Gamboa gets drawn in then he is playing strainght into the yanks hands... personally i dont think he will .

This fight has the replica of Pacman v De La Hoya and Cotto v Margarito 2 ... and i can see the smaller but quicker and technically greater fighter coming through as a wide UD over 12 rounds...

Thats what makes the match so good. Rios could blast him out of there early!

I agree with the concept completely , Gamboa from the off better be really sitting on those punches , and he better be looking to put Rios away during every exchange because if he doesnt , he's in deep **** down the stretch !!! Fact :deal

As to whether Rios actually takes Gamboa out ?? , thats the part of the puzzle i havent worked out yet , does Gamboa have enough craft to stick Rios while not being readily available to be hit ??? , im not sure , if he has , he may nick a decision based on control of the earlier stages of the fight

As far as im concerned Gamboa has better fundamentals than any of Rios's last 4 oppponents and if he needs to be elusive he can be , but if he think's he can be elusive for 12 rounds and outpoint Rios , im afraid he's sadly mistaken

**** me where to start with this one !!! :huh

Ok Rios , he is one of , if not the premier inside fighter in world boxing , his defence (when defending) is water tight , his chin glue'd to his chest , and he has excellent movement when cutting off the ring , he is world class , thats a fact !!!

De La Hoya Pacquiao , and Pacquiao Margarito are shocking comparisons , De La Hoya and Margarito (the supposid bigger men and punchers) were shot , to the point where they were nothing but static punch bags , for a revigerated fighter at his most suited weight class 140 - 150 , this is completely different , Rios is in his prime and he is brimming with confidence , Gamboa on the other hand has struggled to make a dent on fighters with a similar style (but with less skill than Rios) at Featherweight :deal , the gamble is on Gamboa , not on Rios !!!

Rios , bangs !!! , that cannot be argued with , and he can walk down and pressure intelligent fighters (Peterson , Acosta) as well as stand and bang it out with fighters of a similar style (Antillon , Murray) just because Gamboa has it all in terms of skill , doesnt give him a free pass against a monster like Rios

Also , you seem to presume a lot of things , like

So your point is : Rios is a masochist not a boxer . He should see a shrink asap . ¿ And you said he's been this way since childhood ? , ! Good lord !
