In the first Pacquiao fight was try to fight Pac like he was the smaller guy. All you have to do is box Pacquiao. Not try to fight him once he hits you with a good shot. That plays right into his style. Cotto has the skill to do it.
easier said than done. its like saying all you have to do is pressure floyd or all you have to do is avoid hearns' right hand.
He tried to box pac after round 4 and it maybe won him 1 round, he was only able to postpone the stoppage.
Yep, I`ve said that since the start, if you try walk thru Pac you will feel the full force of his offensive arsenal, if you use defense, movement & intelligent boxing then you neutralize a large part of what makes Pac great. Ps. I`m not sure Cotto is a good enough boxer technically to beat Pac by trying to outbox him tho, he ain`t as good as Morales or Marquez, not even close.
100%. THe first 3 rounds looked good for Cotto... the second he tried to fight Pac like Pac was the smaller guy, it backfired on him. Prior to that, he was doing great.
Hey man ... Why did you not email the trainers of all those guys who lost? Figure they would have loved to know
There is no reason this fight should happen now-JMM 4 AND COTTO 2 WILL BE THERE AFTER MAYWEATHER-PAC 1... STOP RUNNING MANNY!
I think he needed to stay disciplined, not tried to bully him and not get into the wild exchanges with Pacquiao, which is how he got hurt. The 1st KD, which didn't hurt him all that much, it should have served as a warning. After the 2nd KD, which really did hurt him, it was a different fight. I'm interested in this fight because I think Cotto will fare better with a more focused approach, and with his new trainer, who seems to have him fighting smarter. Don't think he wins though. I'd still rather see Mayweather or Marquez for Pacquiao though.
Cotto was looking good early till he got hurt. Once he felt the power he went defensive all the way and no one can blame him, only he knows how bad it hurt.
When will people realise that Pacquiao isn't just some limited brawler and a simple bit of 'boxing' will be enough to dominate him
It's close. I'd say Cotto has the better fundamentals, now that he's returned to them with Pedroza, and Pac is more dynamic offensively. Pacquiao's footwork was a lot better, as was his balance, back when they fought, but seeing the lateral movement Cotto showed against Margarito, he can control the angle much better in a rematch. I'd rather not think about this fight since I really want Floyd to happen at last, but I have no doubt he'd do better.
pac baited cotto by allowing him to hit him at will and just covering up. thus, cotto was tempted to engage... big mistake! and we know what happened.
