Interesting, I didn't realise Duran was that close to Leonard, even ringing him up and giving him the strategy to beat Hagler :think
First of all this article was a great read.. it was on ESPN.com Boxing page.. Great insight and recounts/excerpts from the Book 4 kings.. Yeah I didnt know how Leonard conceded a pretty decent part of the profits in exchange for the 12 round fight, choice of gloves and Ring size.. the whole Read was hillarious and amusing.. Real spit was told about the greatest fight in my lifetime.. Come on President.. thats Low.. I have mad Respect for Hagler.. If you read the article you might have a different view of him.. I have seen interviews but the article lays everything out... didn't know Haglar was a lil older than what was reported at fight time... Even Lower... Like the article said while people said Leonard was waiting he too was getting older and not fighting... Both of these guys deserve respect
No.Hagler considered Leonard a friend until after their fight.Leonard invited Hagler within a year of their fight to Leonard's restaurant opening in Baltmore.Hagler thought Leonard did it as a friend inviting a friend to an event when in fact Leonard did it to gauge Hagler for a possible fight.Leonard has admitted such on record. It's all in Steve Marantz's book.
Knew about Duran saying that to Leonard after the Hagler-Duran fight as it's common knowledge. Is it true Duran phoned Leonard about strategy against Hagler?Never heard that one before.Where did you hear that?
