The other content need to fund a channel full of boxing

It might work but the issue would come back to the same core problem, in that not enough people are interested in boxing. The fights we get from SKY are about as much as can be done. Why would a channel put on boxing, which is often so hit and miss on a saturday evening for a minority of followers, when that same prime time airtime can screen an evenings worth of entertainment programming and attract a far larger audience.

To be honest the big problem i have with signing up to these two channels are they are ****. Setanta Ireland show nothing I can't see and the football gets scrambled up here so why would I bother with them seeing as I can get all the GAA on RTE. Primetime are even worse they show nothing. Every sport with a relative support at decent times are on Sky and ESPN.

Another thing signing up for Primetime is impossible they ****ed me over twice while signing off for Setanta they continued to charge me for 2 or 3 months without the channel being available.

We've had this thread 100 times before and the same things come out of it. Pryor Vs Arguello 1 is on ESPN Classics :good Pryor has a beard and a half.

 

Not actually joking... I heard an interesting one yesterday. You know how the Championship is supposed to be the fourth-most attended football league in Europe?

Well more people go fishing every Saturday in England every Saturday afternoon than attend all four football leagues. Barstool wisdom probably but got me hook line n sinker.

Obviously people are into it and you could even branch out with those 'Shark Man' or whatever programmes they spam on the documentary channels.

 

Maybe a show like 360 or 24/7, but profiling all the fighters with regional and national title shots coming up.

Also, more documentaries and instructional videos.

Maybe a daily workout than ran at different times in different time zones?

 

Boxing isn't on TV because there's no demand for it. It's as simple as that.

It's not commercially or economically viable for Sky/ESPN/ITV to spend millions of pounds to broadcast fights when only a few thousand people will tune in to watch them.

The only fighters who attract the interest of the general public at the moment (in Britain) are Khan and Haye, nobody would tune in to watch Marquez-Lopez.

A million people viewing ITV4 on primetime saturday evening, when factoring in the costs that the event requires as opposed to other programming, the costs involved in the run up to the event planning and logistics, in combination with the hit and miss entertainment of British boxing... take all that into account.. and then think...

Why not just get Die Hard 2 from their film stock library, stick that on.. gets a large numbers of viewers, none of the logistics, none of the huge one off costs, non of the hit and miss...

it isn't worth the hassle
