I miss Gerry. Was really sad to see him stopped against JuanMa. Had one of the best chins in the game. The best technician in Filipino boxing history. That body shot KO of Johnny Gonzalez to become a two-division world champion was what I remember most while looking back. What a perfect shot.

I don't hold his stoppage against JuanMa against him, personally. I actually think it does nothing but reinforce that Gerry has an iron mandible. He ate literally dozens of flush power punches against a massive puncher who was 10+ pounds bigger than him come fight night.

I watched that one live and don't remember him ever wobbling or going down. He was yanked because it had become a one sided drubbing where Gerry was too proud to quite, his chin never let him down.

I don’t hold it against him either. Just felt sad because I knew that was basically the end of his career, especially consider his age at that point. Iron chin, most definitely.
