Perhaps I flatter you, Swarmer. You speak sense.

I think it's more that people our age really don't know **** about boxing, for the most part. And the ones that do tend not to like or be knowledgeable about fighters from the eras that you and I do- Body Head being a perfect example of kids born round the same time as us.

I thought you and Addie were both a lot older than you are.

:yep Comparatively to a lot if not most of the posters on the Classic, I really don't know **** about Boxing, but I'm eager to learn. I actually feel blessed that I don't know as much as McGrain or a John Garfield. These guys have seen it all, whereas I still have a lot to look forward to in terms of new discoveries.

I only started watching Boxing religiously like...4-5 years ago?

Well the Classic forum is a different level. I lurk a lot here to absorb the info of the older guys. Love the contributions of JG, BB, etc... It's nice to see that people in their middle years can indeed adapt to the new technological opportunities of the time and give younger guys their experience in this format. Like yourself, I'm certainly still in boxing padawan mode.

In all honesty, I've been watching boxing/doing boxing like mad for only about 2 years, I only had a passing cultural familiarity with it until recently. But i'm eager to learn. :scaredas:

    :patsch

My freshman year I made friends with this dude and he had a boxing encyclopedia in his dorm that kinda popped out to me. I picked it up and started leafing through it, reading about fighters and fights. Then i started watching highlight reels on YT of Leonard, Tyson, Ali, Duran, etc... And then my friend and I did some sparring, his ex-coach came and gave us some pointers, and then I just started watching fights. Leonard-Duran I/Patterson-Johansson III/Dempsey-Willard were the ones that made me a real boxing fan though. As you can tell by my username I developed a preference for fighters with a certain style early :hey

From a domestic viewpoint, Eubank-Watson I + II took place the year I was born. Fight one before I was born and fight two after.

Lions vs. the Christians. When I got older Dad took me to the Coliseum to see it live. Got some dried figs on my toga and had to leave early. Dad wanted to beat the traffic on the road out of Rome anyway.
