The overhyped Cuban boxer thread--the list is long

After watching this Dorticos guy fight tonight, and hearing about how 'great' he was as an amateur, I just cannot take it anymore. Let's look at recent events that have taken place for certain hyped up Cuban prospects.

Look at Odlanier Solis...the guy broke his knee against Vitali and gravy came out. He is a nobody at HW yet is still hyped up.

Yordanis Despaigne got the hell beat out of him by another prospect in Ismayl Syllakh.

Guillermo Rigondeaux looked pretty lackluster when he stepped it up against Cordoba, and as a result, he fought a much lesser opponent in his next fight.

Yan Barthelemy has already lost twice in 14 fights.

The best thing going in Cuban boxing is Lara and Gamboa, and I don't know if that's saying a whole lot.

The jury is still out on guys like Luis Ortiz, Luis Garcia, Mike Perez, Alexei Acosta, Luis Franco

Despaigne put on a good fight but got outclassed by a guy who had an even better resume in the amateurs than him, there's no shame in that. Rigo didn't look great in one fight but he's still a legendary amateur fighter and he's on track to win a title. Gamboa looks good, I think he stops Solis tomorrow. The rest have their ups and downs but not exactly a weak crop.

Just another hype job. Lara will get killed @ 154 by guys like Kirkland, Angulo. He better not even think about getting near them.

Too bad they are no longer in the amateurs.

No **** sherlock, but clearly amateur pedigrees correlate with pro success.

Not always, and not in the case of most of the guys I'm talking about in this thread. It's kind of the point of the thread in a way. They are hyped up because they are from Cuba and have had excellent amateur careers. But now that they are pros, we see what's really what, and they really aren't that good.

This is the hurt business, no headgears, a totally different world to the amateurs where CUBA dominates.

 No need to be a hater, of course it's not a 1-1 correlation but Cuba's got as good of prospects as anyone could ask your nitpicking aside.

Out of all of them my top pick was Lara but he just ruined his image tonight. I think the Cuban train has been derailed B.
