The p4p concept is flawed beyond belief. Heavyweights and the bias.

Lennox Lewis does the shoulder roll against Briggs, slips his follow up punches and than proceed to knock Briggs down.

How impressive is that if Whitakker did it? .. Whitakker has been known to do far flashier stuff
How impressive is that if Roy Jones did it? It's ok, nothing special..

The difference? Lewis did it as a 6'5 244 Pound man. Pernell was 5'6 130.
A shoulder roll slip from Lewis should rightfully be ranked higher than say if a 130 pounder did the same thing.

I think the death of the heavyweights really does blind current boxing fans as to how difficult it is for 230+ Pound men to be agile and flexible as compare to tiny guys at 130-135.

    Muhammad Ali 6'3.. 215-220
No matter how you cut it, that's much more impressive than if some 5'4 guy did the same thing.

P4P really should be changed to better suit the heavyweights and give them a fair shake.

The original concept of p4p. was because the lower weights got no prestige and nobody cared about them.. It's the opposite now.

Now the heavyweight gets no attention and nobody cares about them. The lower weights no longer need a 'p4p' ego boost. It's flawed beyond belief to compare a Wladimir jab to a Marquez jab and say the Marquez jab is 'better p4p' because he's smaller. That's essentially what the p4p system really is saying and it's been saying that since the 90's.

What makes Pernell higher p4p than Lewis? Why?
Because a 130 pounder can move 'slicker' than a 6'5 240 pound heavyweight? Of course he can.. He's a ****ing 130 pound fighter.

I'm not saying Pernell is not greater than Lewis.
Pernell is probably greater or at least as great as Lewis.

I'm just saying it's EASIER for Pernell to look like a p4p king than it is for Lewis

    Wasn't Tyson considered the p4p #1 for a while?

both wlad and floyd are impressive for completely different reasons

floyd breaking fighters down doesn't make him any less impressive just because he doesn't get KO's

ever heard of georges saint pierre?

Maybe p4p needs to be explained cause judging from what I've read so far, there seems to be a lack of understanding.:bbb

The original concept of pfp was not what it is today. Today it's just been used as a popularity contest between Floyd and Pacman. Originally pfp was meant for people to fantasize about fighters being the same size who would win. Now they use it to sell ppv's and bluff fools with tireless nonsense.

Um, actual fights that have meaning perhaps? :huh The thing about P4P is, waay too many imbeciles use p4P ranking as if they have some deep seated meaning, or a fighter deserves a parger portion of a purse, or that another isn't worthy of a fight because THEY aren't seen on a P4P list.

In other words, worthless in the context that actually matters. However, I totally understnd why some make a big deal about them, and why they are can bring up discussions.

That's what I thought myself. I think also that it's alluding to the p4p #1 being the same weight as the fighters he is up against, regardless if it's heavy, middle , feather, or whatever.:bbb

Well I hear you. It's harder for a heavyweight to look fluid and be fast then it's for a LW.

    But Alot of the former heavyweight legends where ranked n#1;

    Ali, Foreman, Tyson.
