:think The so called best fighters in the sport aren't supposed to be fatally flawed. Not to mention, beaten by less than premium grade competition, exploited.
love the names. Just in a bad order. Atleast he doesnt have every latino with a belt ranked in the top 10 like the Ring.
Margarito is limited. Only because he has a granite chin and incredible stamina does he win fights. He's not exactly a "sklilled" fighter. Same was the case with Pavlik. Everyone knew he wasn't an eye popping talent but he was a beast at MW. A P4P list isn't just about pure skill, it's about what you do at your weight class is it not? You point out PW's loss to Quintana but ignore his later destruction of the same man in the first round?
Larry Merchant said it's strictly based "who could beat who at the same class on equal terms." I'd conceed there's a little more to it than that, all things being multi-dimensional and this being reality - but not much. Not much more than that. On Margarito... "only because he has a granite chin.. good stamina.." C'mon now. You think I'm that superficial?? You are apparently. What Margarito is and has shown to be is alot more than the one dimensional generic impression 'the fans' got after he smashed Cotto.
Missed the last part... That "destruction" in the first round wasn't a straight ahead event. What happened before and after Williams landed the damaging blow is significant. Nah, I don't just look at the generics. Quintana was lighting him up, again, as the fight got underway.
You're still picking and choosing what you want to see without being objective. On the one hand, you accept Marg's God given talents which enable him to win fights without looking down on them but ignore the God given talent that Williams had to take out Quintana. Both guys are huge WWs and do use size to their advantage. You call PW seriously flawed but this flawed fighter beat Marg. It's cool, you're the same guy who actually thought Marg "beat" Williams. :hi:
First of all, every thing you have said is directly stupid or has holes in it. You realize that, yeah?
I have great respect for Bernstein - he's my favorite commentator aside from Roy Jones but I question this list...
