    LOS ANGELES — Mexican counter-puncher Juan Manuel Marquez is due anytime here to finalize the contract for his planned Nov. 12 rubber match with Filipino star Manny Pacquiao.

    Hall of Fame promoter Bob Arum said on Monday that Marquez is arriving with his lawyer to have the contract for the Pacquiao fight signed after Golden Boy Promotions (GBP) did not match Top Rank’s offersheet.
    Marquez had given GBP to match Top Rank’s mouth-watering offer until Monday afternoon and the Oscar De La Hoya-owned outfit apparently was unable to make a counter-offer that would keep Marquez from going elsewhere.

    ...and an article yesterday came out where Ortiz's manager said that the negotiation started 2-3 weeks ago. :yep

    ...which would make it after or right about when JMM was signing the contract. ;)

    Floyd waited until after Pac signed on to fight JMM before he came out. :hi:

    Juan Manuel Marquez is truly aching to have a third shot against Manny Pacquiao.

    The 37-year-old Mexican decided to sign the offer given him by Top Rank

    in the hope of finally settling an old, old score with his Filipino nemesis.

    Top Rank chief Bob Arum said Tuesday that Marquez already accepted the terms of the deal that will give him a guaranteed purse of $5 million.

    It also detailed that he'll be fighting the world's top pound-for-pound fighter at a catch-weight of 144 pounds.

    accepted the terms does not mean he signed the contract. JMM signed the contract only when GBP gave up on matching the offer.

    ...but 11 or 18th, Floyd did not come out of hiding until he was free of danger. :yep

    Negotiation for the Floyd-Ortiz fight would have started after or about the time Pac would be tied up to fight JMM.
