We agree on most things but i might have spotted you and Philly saying the decision was fair or similar and mocking robbery claims? I have to say i disagree on this occasion and would have no problems with anyone calling it a robbery even with Fury getting dropped twice.
Yeah, you're walking a very tight rope if you don't discourage Wilder for throwing that right. If he gets to throw it all night it will land sooner or later.
Marciano and Wilder couldn’t be more different but there are a few similarities. Both unorthodox both with great power. Both did fight weaker competition in the beginning. But Marciano really honed his craft in later third of his career. Idk how people watch his fights and don’t see the skill (they only see the awkward missed shot here and there). Which let’s face it was probably due to his poor reach. The Wilder Fury fight almost ended like Marciano Walcott but credit to Fury for getting up from what looked like a coma.
I see no similarities, at all. Marciano might not have ever looked polished, but I think he had a method in there and, no matter how unfathomable that might have been, it yielded consistent results at the highest level. Much of it rested on the unpleasing awkward style; combined with his unforgiving persistence and an ability muster every ounce of power he could into his punches - round after round. As has been alluded to by others, Wilder seems only to seek the one big shot to win by KO/TKO. I don't really see him employ a method of achieving that; more that he carries the power to make the best of an opportunity - but, that's not enough to consistently win at the highest level, in my opinion.
I think fury's power is underrated. He rocked Wilder on more than one occasion but he never went after him like Ortiz did for obvious reasons. Wilder wasn't "in trouble" but he felt those shots despite fury not really sitting down on most of them
Definitely. He's a very big man who knows how to punch. His rights have plenty of zip when he sits down and shifts his weight. I suppose the top 180lb fighters of the past would most likely just walk right through them unbothered though...
Yep, just like how some would walk through the punches of other giants. Also Fury's power isn't underrated. He's never knocked anyone out worth note, he doesn't even hit as hard as Primo Carnera or Buddy Baer, who are of similar size.
Some other Deontay Wilder parallels: Deontay Wilder and Joe Louis - both were born in the United States. Deontay Wilder and Muhammad Ali - both have ancestors born in Africa. Deontay Wilder and Jack Dempsey - neither has a win over Tyson Fury on their record. Deontay Wilder and George Foreman - both are over six feet tall. Deontay Wilder and Mike Tyson - both weigh over 200 lbs. Deontay Wilder and Lennox Lewis - both are currently alive.
Terrible comparison IMO. Marciano is just about the last HW who comes to mind when thinking about which historical HWs Wilder resembles. This said, Marciano Vs Wilder would be one hell of an entertaining fight for the few short rounds it would last.
