    Or will bother you?

As another poster stated, we've lost quite a few this year. I'll start with the ones that will bother me.

    Ali (of course)

Tommy Hearns. I was introduced to boxing when I saw he was fighting at the Palace about 2.5 years ago. I only knew his name, nothing of his accomplishments. I repaid many basketball and football game debts to my dad and took him to the fight. It was a first for him as well and we both had a lot of fun. It was a fun night and a good bonding experience.

The passing of Willie Pep bothered me a lot. Rocky Marciano's death bothers me even though it happened before I was born. When Basilio and Fullmer go, I will be gutted. When Holmes goes I will be gutted aswell. Ali will bother me, Frazier will bother me, Lewis will bother me, and Leonard, Hagler, Duran, Angelo Dundee (not a boxer), Arguello, and Hearns will all bother me a ton.

Rocky Marciano, Joe Louis, Ray Robinson, Floyd Patterson, Archie Moore, and now Joey Giardello. The way Sonny Liston ended up was sad also.

We are all mortals. We all die some time. Its only a matter of when and how. 78 is a pretty good age imo. Most dont even make it that far.

Louis ,Dempsey ,Marciano,,young Johnny Owen was pretty shocking as it was a ring fatality.I expect to be very sad when Ali dies ,thats if I out last him.I thought Liston's death was a shame ,to die so shabbily .Like wise Floyd Patterson, going whilst in a kind of early twilight, similar to Sugar Ray.

Willie Pep's death bothered me alot because I had an opportunity to go to his nursing home in Connecticut with his son and a good friend of mine and fellow analyst, fighter, and trainer, and didn't get there in time. This was only a couple of weeks before he passed on.

    Ah regrets.

On the front of the Boxing News, when Gavilan passed, there was a pic of him shadow boxing in front of a mirror, the headline read 'Mirror mirror on the wall, one of the greatest of them all'

    Quite touching really,

Salvador Sanchez. He accomplished so much at such a young age. The sky was the limit.

I think they just meant it as fans of the fighters because they luv boxing and took those particular guys to their harts. Just because someone else mentioned someone they wanted to doesnt mean they cant do also just because someone beat them to it. The thread's not about being creative you madman, its about a guy you would miss, or even one that you have studied on film, learned much about the career of, and think that its sad that a great man/innovator/practicioner etc. has passed on. Or it could be you knew one of them, they entertained you, filled your liife as a fan (purist/llover of boxing?) with something extra. Whatever it is, the thread sure as helll aint about being creative.
