Sexy Sergio wants no part of Margo, now or in the future.

What's in it? Margo has no belts, and imo he stands as a gate keeper in the division, now the cotto margo makes alot more sense since there's controversy there, the loss to margo was so long ago and had no effect on Sergio, the same can't be said about Cotto and is a much anticipated match.

So much wrong in a single post.

Angulo has not fought in a year and lost to Cintron immediately after Martinez beat him three times in the same night. Cotto's resume at 154 is a win over Foreman, who was subsequently destroyed by Wolak, and a completely shot Mayorga. Martinez wanted to fight Geale, Sturm, and Chavez in October and none were interested. Dzinziruk was better than every available middleweight in his last fight, and absolutely no one objected to the Williams rematch.

Why don't you admit that you're after Sexy Sergio's **** and there's nothing anyone could say that would make you stop looking at the world thru your Sergio colored glasses?

Cotto is a far more skilled fighter than Sergio. Period. The only question is how much fight does he have left in him and how much pop does he carry at 154.

lol at Dzin being the best middleweight out there, that doesn't even deserve a reply.

Angulo, imho, is a terrible style matchup for Sergio plus it's common knowledge that Angulo was ill in the Cintron fight and had legal issues besides. I won't hate on anyone who would pick Sergio in that matchup though.

your first sentence has no steam. Cotto is more skilled than Margo yet lost, Acosta more skilled than Rios yet lost.... Need more?

Well the other question about Cotto is how worthwhile his power is at 154. Yeah he stopped Foreman and Mayorga, but the first involved the knee injury and the second involved a completely shot fighter. I suspect the Margarito fight will also be stopped because of the eye, but I don't see him actually slowing him down. Likewise, I don't see Angulo as a bad matchup for Martinez. Why, because Martinez lost to Margarito eons ago? Angulo is still largely unproven in my opinion and Martinez would be tagging him all night long.

Sergio Martinez has not fought at 154 since February of 2009! Based on the "12 months of inactivity" thing that everybody religiously follows because of Mayweather now, Martinez should be 18 months removed from any kind of ranking at the weight class.

Notable resume at 154: L Antonio Margarito, W Richard Williams I & II, W Adrian Stone, W Saul Roman, W Alex Bunema, D Kermit Cintron

So, how again is he the man at 154?

I should be clear that while I'm defending Martinez here, I disagree with the premise of this thread for the already stated reason that Martinez hasn't fought there in ages. That said, I also vehemntly disagree with anyone who wants to declare Cotto the king of the division when he's proven very little during his time there. Dzinziruk has an equally valid claim to the top spot on the basis of his resume, but there's clearly no lineal champion there at the moment.

The more skilled fighter doesn't ALWAYS win, and there's usually some intangible involved when he doesn't. Margo's chin. Acosta's stamina and Rios' refusal to stop chasing him. Sergio doesn't have that type of intangible on his side, he's a potshotter who's been known to fade and has only shown big power in one fight. If Sergio beats Cotto it will be because of size and Cotto's ring wars.
