:rofl this is just the kind of ignorance that makes these debates so ridiculous. NY is both a state and a city. The state comprises the city; the city comprises more people than all of Wales. A Knicks game at the Garden practically comprises the population of Cardiff.

Dumbass, the city is a part of the state. So if New York City is more known than Wales, than so is New York state. Pick up a ****ing book sometimes and start using some common sense.

I don't see how Chavez was nonexistant, Margarito as well and MANY others. They did fight for a long time outside of the US till they rised and were offered to be promoted by American guys who brought them where they are today. Right?

First of all, to call Wales a state is not incorrect because the word has many definitions, one of which reads:

    7. a politically unified people occupying a definite territory; nation.

    and another

    9. any of the bodies politic which together make up a federal union, as in the United States of America.

I am sure being a body in the United Kingdom would also classify you as a state.

Furthermore, if Wales is such a big and important country, why doesn't it send it's own representatives to the United Nations? The truth is, for all of it's history, Wales is a part of the UK and Americans don't give a ****, and rightly so. How did Wales olympic team do last year?

    Furthermore, "The
    This content is protected
    retains responsibility for passing
    This content is protected
    in Wales, but since the
    This content is protected
came into effect in 2007, the
    This content is protected
can request powers to pass primary legislation as
    This content is protected
on specific issues. The National Assembly is not a sovereign authority, and the UK Parliament could, in theory, overrule or even abolish it at any time."

So... it has political authority that can be overruled by a federal government controlled by it and OTHER states (which, as previously mentioned, is synonymous with countries.)

Wow... it souns like just any other state in the good ol' US of A to me. Just because it has a history doesn't mean it's so special. Brits use the word country, and Americans use the word state, but it's the same thing in this situation. Most Americans can't recognize every state flag in America, and for good reason, there is almost no practical reason to have that knowledge when 99.999% of the time it is utterly worthless.

If New York were a country, i would agree with that statement, but it isn't. People don't care about states to the same extent of a country, especially when theres 50 of the *******s. A country's flag is something everyone in that country has great pride in, but a state flag doesn't get any global exposure, so its a stupid comparison.

No offense, but absolutely Nobody on this planet, other than Welshmen, give a rat's ass about Wales. It's not even on the global radar.
