Broken record time. Watch Pavlik/Taylor 2 and then watch Calzaghe/Kessler. Taylor is the fastest of the 4. Didn't win him the fight. If Calzghe is close enough to land, then Pavlik is close enough to land. If Calzaghe does one of those little body pitty pat flurries he could be eating enough leather to slow him down some. :yep

Joe is on the slide, his speed is NOWHERE near what it was in his prime. At some points in the Hopkins fight, it appeared to me that Hopkins was matching Joe's speed. That isn't good.

But Pavlik to me, is solid but very laboured in his punch speed. You can see where his punches are coming from a long time before they reach their intended destination. A prime Joe is too good for that and would outbox Kelly something outrageous... I'm talking almost Lacy like proportions here. This Calzaghe is a bad KO waiting to happen. Losing 2 stone at 36-and-a-half years old can't be easy - is Joe's heart really in that anymore? Joe's punch resistance has been good for his whole career but at some stage, it catches up with you. It could happen in any one fight. I sincerely hope it isn't against the likes of Pavlik... a good, honest boxer, but not nothing exceptional.

JC look ed **** against Ho, but I dont think their fight brings much to the table when considering a fight with Pavik, they are completely different styles. Hopkins is a spoiler while Kelly likes to fight in the centre of the ring. Kellys style is better for Calzaghe who excells against guy who like to throw.

As for RJJ I agree this could all be a ploy for Roy to lower his price, but tbh Calzaghe Pavlik is a much more meaningful fight, and although Joe might be slipping a bit Pavlik is at his peak, he is a linear champ, undefeated and more people think Kelly can beat Calzaghe than people who think Roy would beat him.

Linear Champion vs Linear Champion = Superfight.

Calzaghe - Pavlik takes ot for me.

Of course it's a much more meaningful fight.

I was wrong about Calzaghe's weight - he's probably more suited to about 170lbs than 175lbs. So Supermiddleweight is probably his best official weight. Since Pavlik has already fought at 165, this should be about right at 168.

It's the best two middleweights on the planet.
