Such passion for justice to be administered in a boxing ring is to be admired. I try to put myself in your shoes Serge, you see Castaño give the performance of his life and then to not be rewarded with all the gold when the verdict was given. I know this would be disheartening and another "here we go again" moment in boxing history. I just try to give the judges the benefit of the doubt and try to make sense of the decison. Not the 117-111 which was obviously wrong, but I mean just the draw itself. They say ties are like kissing your sister, and you don't strike me as the kind of guy who would settle for kissing your sister, so from that standpoint I can understand your feeling disappointed after Castaño didn't get the decision. But Serge, look on the bright side, Castaño's place in history is still yet to be determined. Surely this will lead to another match between the two and maybe just maybe he can achieve the dream. And lets say he got the decision, it would surely just as well lead to a rematch anyway with Charlo feeling robbed. But he would have the belts, I get that, and he would have had his moment of glory. But them maybe Charlo would be more motivated to avenge his first loss, and maybe Castaño would become less hungry after getting the victory then not train as hard for the rematch, who knows how that would play it. But still, the draw is still a big moment for Castaño with much of the public thinking he won. It's not what you wanted, it's not what you felt shoud have happened, but it's still a great result for Castaño and he should feel very proud to give that kind of an effort and come out of that match a true Champion in the public's eyes.
How close was it really? What determines that. Feelings? We can only go by how the other two judges had it, 116-112, 117-111 for Floyd which were fair scores in my mind. If you're asking which card was more suspicious, 117-111 Charlo was farther away from the other judges than 114-114 was in Canelo Floyd. So from that standpoint, 117-111 Charlo was more of an outlier. Is that what you're asking? (feelings aside)
Which card is more suspicious in your mind, and why? I doubt the judge who had it 117-111 Charlo will be exiled from the sport like Ross was.
The draw was fair. Each guy had their moments but neither IMO took more than half the rounds conclusively.
Charlo didn't deserve to lose like Loma did. He actually came to fight. As The Akbar One just said, neither fighter won more than half the rounds conclusively, so a draw was fair. Loma gave away the first half of the fight by not throwing any punches because he was injured. You're failing miserably trying to compare Lopez Loma which was a one-sided domination to Charlo Castaño which was a close competitive fight throughout. You've elevated yourself to total clown status with this comparison.
I don't but the judges did. What can we as fans do? I watched UFC mostly last night. Boxing is killing itself.
You don't watch boxing for the decision, you watch it for the action and for the event. Boxing is more popular than ever. Decisions never defined the sport of boxing. Yes we should strive for boxing to make popular decisions but judges and commissions have their own criteria and agendas that go into scoring that we have to accept. So-called bad decisions create controversy and storylines. There's something about the fan mindset that needs to change when it comes to decisions in major fights. We have to just accept that judges are going to score it how they gonna score it and that's all there is to it. It's nothing to get all bent outta shape over. No matter how the judges scored it fights will be debated till the cows come home. That's just how boxing is and the real fans won't let a so-called bad decision spoil a great fight.
