Mike Tyson mentioned it numerous times, but knowing Mike he might very well not be historically accurate (Cus might have picked up a few ideas when Japanese martial arts were becoming big in America), with your version being the true origin, while what Mike said being what Cus emphasized during his own upbringing.

 

Teddy also mentioned peekaboo being knockout orientated since Cus believed boxing was in large part a show and demanded the spectacle of destruction.
