Would be Cotto vs. Malignaggi II in early 2009. After Malignaggi loses to Fatton, of course. Cotto would surely get his confidence back fighting a guy he already beat the crap out of, and furthermore Malignaggi couldn't dent a piece of tissue paper, much less Cotto's chin. Anyone else think this is a good idea? Thoughts?

NO, I think he should fight a welterweight.

Malignaggi has said he would move up to fight Cotto again, but who at welterweight would be a safe return fight? Collazo perhaps? With regards to Cintron, although both sides want the fight, both sides also speak of it being a bit down the road, after a fight or two for both Cotto and Cintron.

I think Julio's people want him to fight guys that trade with him and don't move to much, or have leaky defenses, or both. Quintana beat him, and even Ishe Smith gave him problems. I doubt Julio's people want to let him near a guy who can box and is a good puncher like Cotto.

Hatton is done IMO, Paulie beats him, if he can keep his weave out of his eyes and not **** up a hand or two.

Maybe but if Julio takes the fight it might be the only chance he has to beat a big name.

Maybe, but Paulie can't crack an eggshell, and thus doesn't have the firepower to deter Hatton. If Hatton is coming foward and throwing punches and pressing the action, then Paulie, even if he is boxing and countering expertly, will lose the fight. Judges tend to reward aggression, even if relatively ineffective, and Hatton will be percieved as the aggressor. Also, Keep in mind that Hatton is a cash cow, way more than Paulie ever will be, and The judges will not let Paulie **** up a Pac-Hatton collision in the near future- count on that.

My thoughts directly oppose yours.

Cotto-Malignaggi II is a waste of time.

    Malignaggi isn't losing to Hatton.

I don't think Cotto needs to be coddled back into his confidence or take any steps backwards. He needs to get right back to fighting tough, dangerous fights, and if and when a chance to rematch Margarito comes along, he needs to seize it immediately.

I doubt fans of Cotto want to see him thrown in with guys who could beat him a second time in a row and really derail him-Arum probably agrees. So who would you like to see him fight-and probably lose to- if his next fight is a tough one as you suggest-Williams, maybe?
