I think that's a gross underestimation of the guy's level of heart and skill. I'll believe Margarito "ruined" or "exposed" him when I see incontrovertible proof. Anyone who was ever actually a fan of the guy and not just a hype-rider, I would think, would want to see him match tough for the rest of his career. Williams would be a very interesting matchup with the physical disparities between the two, and Cotto's higher level of drive and ability. I'd pay forty bucks for that.
I'm not saying Cotto should embark on a gravy-train bum rampage for an extended time frame, but having an easy fight back after a tough loss is usually the norm. If he does fine then, afterwards he can get back to tough competition. He most likely isn't totally ruined, but it will take a fight or two to really tell. After all, Vargas fought Rivera after the Tito fight, and after that fight, his handlers realized that Tito had damaged him-and thus, steroids were brought in to try and help him beat DLH.
Wow this has to be the dumbmest post of the day especially give the fact that Cotto beat Paulie, Paulie only won 3 rounds against a weight drained Cotto.
What makes anyone think that Cotto could beat Malignaggi? A waste of a fight for Paulie. After he's beaten Hatton, he should fight an opponent who might have a chance against him, like Mayweather.
I personally like to see cotto comeback fight to be against cintron then fight for a tittle then try to find the rematch against margarito
What makes anyone think that Cotto could beat Malignaggi???? Gee now there's an interesting question to ponder. Could it be because Cotto beat the living **** out of him once already? Some of these people are truly unbelievable, but you sir, take the cake. Please refrain from any further posting of silly, stupid, uninformed, ridiculous material.
Cotto fighting Malignaggi again would be pointless. He already beat him at 140 and what gets lost due to Paulie's bravery is the fact that Cotto didn't just beat him, he beat him up. It was a competitive, yet one-sided fight. I know I'm just echoing the thoughts of other posters but I wanna see Cotto take on Cintron. If anything, Cotto was dismissive of what Cintron said regarding the Margarito fight so there could be a little bad blood there if stirred properly.
I wouldn't call it "the perfect" but it definitely would be an intriguing possibility. I however would expect Cotto to win big; maybe even by ko. I rather see him fight a welter but if the choice was between Paulie and Ricky, I'd go Ricky.
Cotto will stay at 147, I don't know where this Malignaggi stuff coming from. I think a decent tune-up vs Cintron next isn't bad, then probably a title shot vs Berto and if all goes good then a rematch vs Margarito is a must even if Margarito loses to Clottey or Williams.
