    against a pillow-punching 174-lb man.

There's simply no way that this man would have any problems whatsoever dispatching the likes of Mike Tyson, Holyfield, Bowe, Lennox Lewis, Ali, Vitali K, etc. Only a dense noob would think any of those guys would have a chance against this perfect, unconquerable specimen of a boxer.

I like and respect Louis but the hyperbole is hilarious.

To be fair that 174 lb man would likely school the majority of HW's today. I'd bet good money on that. They might catch him eventually but there not going to look good doing it.

Anyone else feel Conn gets a bit overrated because of the first Louis fight? I'm sure there were/are plenty of HW's he would school but I think the majority would catch up to him eventually.

Every day you come at us with this sh*t! Louis was drained! He didn't even know where he was for most of the fight he was in such bad condition! Name one fighter who did well when they were severely drained?

The fact that you have to attack Louis based on a fight that he won, is a testament to the weakness of your case.

If I wanted to attack Tyson, Holyfield, Bowe, Lewis, Vitali K, I would find pleanty to work with in the people who beat them.

Interesting enough conn had 8 stoppages in 13 wins which is a significantly higher ko rate than his career number. Could have to do with being quick enough to load up on punches versus bigger guys. Or could have something to do with him entering his mid 20's and no longer cutting weight.

Start a thread on Ali almost getting chinned against Cooper or Lewis being one shotted twice against average heavyweight champions.

And this ****ing obsession with weight is getting tiresome.

To be fair, it didn't look dissimilar to moments in Bowe v Holyfield who wasn't much bigger in physical stature than Conn until he baulked up.

Didn't Louis flatten him in the next round? I don't know what round this is but know Billy had rocked Joe and went out in the next round to end the fight which he did by lying down for ten seconds or more.

This trolling is getting stupid. No Beatles fan wants go to a forum where people constantly bash them.

It's sad that we continue to entertain and debate in threads like this. It only leads to loss of passion because the OP has no genuine intention to debate earnestly

I think if Louis were to compete vs big, quick technical super heavyweights he would have to bulk up a bit, like Cunningham, Holyfield, and Haye did. Otherwise he would have a great career at cruiserweight.

Conn wouldn't have been able to stagger Louis if Joe hadn't been underweight but fully hydrated. However, because Billy did wobble him with that hook, he got the notion of attempting a knockout in his head, providing Louis the opening to drop him for the count.

Pastor never had the idea of trying to stop Joe, and joined Galento as the one guy to come off the deck to win subsequent rounds against Louis. After ten, he was catching up with ten rounds to go, but Joe put him down for good in the eleventh.

Getting inside the head of Louis was critical to any chance of success with him. The press convinced him to come in light for speed in Conn I, and he nearly paid for it with loss of strength. Pastor and Walcott feinted him into knots. Galento made him mad, and became the only opponent to reply to a KD from the Bomber with one of his own. And coming off of Max Baer, he got overconfident and full of himself for Schmeling I. (Good thing for Louis he wasn't challenging Braddock for the title when Schmeling knocked him out. He would not have gotten the better of Jimmy that night either. As it was, James was a complete match for a fully prepared Bomber over the first four rounds of Louis-Braddock.)
