I could include Joe Louis and Alexis Arguello but they are not included due to lack of quick swift foot movement.

 

Lopez and Hagler:good two of the finest technicians ever. Overlooked technically i feel, because of their amazing physical attributes, understandably. You have to understand though its not so much their punching power, but their exceptional skills that made them devastating. They're both the textbook definition of P4P i feel

 

Lopez is one of the very best technicians of all time. Don't you feel that we should choose someone who was more versed at being technically proficient inside though?

Just a thought. Hagler was fantastic inside. The shprt uppercuts he ripped Minter apart with were both devastating and 'correct'. Like i say, Napoles is almost perfect for this thread, but his natural comfort and slickness rule him out imo because it's too hard to imitate.

 

Ricardo Lopez, though Harold Johnson isn't a bad choice.

 

Michael Nunn and Herol Graham.

Ross is one of my favrouites, such a great fighter but an even greater man by all accounts.

Get some Sun-Kill Moon, such a basic style.

 

Its important but not so much as a textbook jab and straight and keeping distance, for beginners. Their physical attributes vary, if theyre not genetic monsters fighting on the inside could be a dangerous game if theyre not so physically gifted. Hit and not get hit to the absolute fullest for these guys.

Being more well rounded with inside abilities would be better, but the thread suggests the new boxer is not a physical beast. So no matter how skilled, its risky being in the trenches with a steel chinned opponent, a powerhouse, a dangerous puncher. Movement is what this guy needs to excel at. Ofcourse at times, being perfect stylistically, they'll need to come inside, but only in bursts, coming in for a second then moving back out, coming in from one angle then switching to another. And that is what Lopez' did best.

 

Oh yeah, for a BEGINNER, then yeah. I overlooked that, i was just reading into the thread title, the perfect style, to which i don't think Lopez would be the ultimate choice, for the reasons i stated. But he's good for beginners to watch yeah. But inside fighting is highly important, unless the kid is going to be one of the greatest ring pure boxers of all time, he's better off being schooled at being technical at all ranges, inside being one of them.

I'm surprised people haven't said Kalambay, i know he has a lot of admirers on here in this regard.

 

Barney Ross is a brilliant pick.

 

I'm amazed nobody mentioned Curry. Very textbook with his punches but smooth and fluid at the same time. Brilliant inside, and outside.....defensively and offensively. High guard, straight punches too. He could back away and get on his bike as well.
