What bothers me the most about it is how Byrd shoves Jacobs down to the mat faster than how Jacobs got knocked down to it.
Legit stoppage: Jacobs was flat on his back for 15-20 seconds which gave him time to recover. If he had gotten up at 5 he would have probably been wobbly as ****...
yea but you can see that by that point the ref had already asked the doctor to come into the ring, so he has no choice but to stop it
Not sure it was a bad stoppage. If Jacobs had of got to one knee, and then just waited, and it was stopped at 5 count that is different. Jacobs was laying there not looking like he was going to get up. When you lay there you leave it at the referees discretion.
Jacobs ****ed up by laying on the floor like that. Pirog would have probably won that fight if it had continued but who knows ? We all know what Corrales did.
For a few seconds he looked completely KTFO but the refs a dick and should have counted. Regardless if he wasnt KTFO out then he soon would have been
Pirog had won only 1 round at that point. If he doesn't stop Jacobs he loses the fight. Very bad stoppage. If a fighter tries that aggressively to get up and you push him down, corrupt ref.
True, but the count has really been removed from boxing, it's getting to the amateur level where if you're caught clean it's like a kd and a kd is fight over. They should be required to count to a full 8 with hands being used unless you're dead like hatton or pac, pw and those types, i guess add the latest khan in there. Fighters can't prepare properly because you have to have been there before and even then it doesn't help. Fighter's get up too quick but its a double edge, if you take your time refs are looking for a reason to stop it, if you jump right up you'll likely stumble and that's it too. Count clearly mouth and hands until 8, then assess. If ones truly out cold you know it, can't be mistaken....
He didn't move so the ref stopped the count and waved it off. Ref could have given him a count. The ref has that type of leeway though to stop it if he thinks the fighter is done.
