Thanks for updates BOXFAN. I dont know any of the names these guys were fighting. Was the level of competition on par with where these guys are in their careers? Or not so much?
Not so much. Kolodziej had good opponent. Jonak and Jackiewicz should have fought better oppponents. The rest were typical journeyman.
They weren't even a journayman type fighters. They were total bums. Kolodziej's opponent was a fat Suppermiddle
Adamek set for Chicago return! IBF #1 rated cruiserweight Tomasz Adamek met with the media in Chicago today to announce his ESPN2 televised showdown with veteran brawler Gary Gomez set for Friday, July 11th at the Aragon Ballroom. Said Adamek, "I'm thrilled to be back in Chicago. The fans here were very supportive during my fights with Paul Briggs. I feel much stronger at cruiserweight and look forward to facing Gary Gomez on Friday, July 11th at the Aragon Ballroom." Yep. First match is on Sunday against arch-rival Germany. Our side has never won against them (0-12-4) although we have a vastly improved team. Hard to believe this is Poland's first ever Euro Cup tournament. Pretty tough group though, with Germany and Croatia. Hopefully they can qualify to the second stage.
Yea qualifying to the 2nd stage or at least beating Germany would be nice. Poland is sporadic as far as their playing goes. On a good day they are able to beat the best. On a bad day they have trouble against teams like Macedonia. So it is hard to say which team will show up, and how they will fare.
