Hey Darien...Thanks for the video of Balzsay & I must say Holy Sweet Jesus, that was some KO! He killed that guy with one shot. Mouthpiece goes flying & his physique is tremendous...those shoulders! No wonder he has such devastating power. What is his weight class? OK, I just checked. He's Super Middleweight. I'd like to see Calzaghe handle that punch. Maybe future opponent for Pavlik??? I may have a new favorite to add on my list!:good
I knew you would appreciate this Jetski! Balzsay fights at 168lbs. He was a seasoned amateur too, he beat current IBF champ Bute. I think the best quote regarding Balzsay is from his friend Erdei, who said after one of his brutal KOs: 'This kid is a monster!" By the way I saw Balzsay's last fight (the KO from the first video) live and I had the chance to talk with him a bit afterwards. He's a very nice and humble guy.
Terrific! From your conversation with him, does he seem to have alot of intelligence? Thats more important in the ring than anything else. So he beat Bute in the amateurs? Excellent. I'm sure our Canadians friends here will appreciate that.:yep
Yes, the way he talks suggests that he's pretty intelligent and educated. On the other hand there are some fighters who look like total idiots when they talk, still look like geniouses in the ring (Toney for example). As for the Canadians here... you're right. I hope they will meet again as pros because when a Hungarian fights a Romanian... now that's something special! :hat
Well, troubled history. In short: we Hungarians believe that Romanians stole Transylvania from us (it was handed to them after WWI by the French) while they believe that we were the ones (rather our ancestors) who stole it from their supposed ancestors more than a 1000 years ago. There are a huge Hungarian minority living in areas that belong to Romania nowadays and well, it's not a nice and peaceful co-existance. There is some hope however, as we both are members of the EU, the tension will hopefully ease off a bit. At least I hope so. Anyway, a sport event with competitors from these two countries is always "special".
Kinda like when a Pole fights a Russian? Too bad people just can't get along, but that is human nature. Hope tensions ease a bit for those involved. One more comment...SCREW the French!!!:bbb
Those Ruskie *******s got their asses handed to them on a plate when they attacked in 1919, and they've been bitter ever since.
Nice post Darien. There seems to be some Hungarians here on this forum, maybe create your own Hungarian Express? Anyways, thx for the video. I enjoyed it. Take care.
Awesome KO, thanks for sharing. And yea, you wrote it correctly :good Thats how the saying goes. :happy
Thanx mate! I don't really think a Hungarian express would make sense, there are much less Hungarians here than Poles. But there's a Hungarian boxing thread in the euro section. You're welcome mate! We have this saying too. In Hungarian it's: Magyar-Lengyel két jóbarát, együtt harcol, s issza borát.
Not quite...some Hungarians believe Romania stole Transylvania from Hungary, the Serbs stole Voyvodina from Hungary, the Slovaks stole a part of Hungary too, etc...in the idea that what Hungary ruled over as part of the Austro-Hungarian Empire was rightfully hers...AND should have been hers for ever, EVEN after the formation of modern nation states...atsch Most reasonable, educated, non-xenophobic/chauvinistic Hungarians, of course, don't...:yep All the other countries surrounding Hungary, who "stole" something from it think that the Hungarians had been brutally opressing the (in some cases - majority) non-Hungarian population and trying to Magyarise them for centuries...Why would they think Hungary stole these provinces?...Hungary won them fair and square in battle...and ruled them legally, for centuries... Romania didn't have Transylvania handed to it on a platter by anyone...it fought for it and won it in battle, with massive loss of life - TWICE, in the 20th century alone!:nod Also it's worth mentioning the Romanians occupied Budapest on two occasions, once in the First World War and once in the second - when they liberated Hungary from Fascist rule after the Germans had fled...:yep As to those who think Poland and Hungary were closer in the 18th - 20th century than Poland and Romania...I would recommend picking up a history book - read up on the Polish-Romanian alliance prior to WW2... I don't think Romania and Poland could have been any closer...they have been the best of friends and allies since for ever...and still are! Fortunately, relations between Romania and Hungary are currently very good and better than ever since Gyurcsany took over. A German-French style reconciliation is under way and things are looking good for the future!:good :good :good ...anyway...back to boxing... :good
