This is a thread devoted to being real about your favorite fighters, instead of defending them against haters (which is what 80% of ESB is about lately). I will start with my 3 favorite modern era fighters. Trinidad- The infamous hand wraps. It still doesnt sit well with me. I have tried to explain it away, mainly to defend him against haters which try to discount his achievements because of it, but I admit it, it was foul and even I lost a little respect for him that night. RJJ- I didnt like the way he acted in the ring sometimes, he could be arrogant about his gifts to a fault at points. I have argued that fighters have to be arrogant, but I admit Roy could be a ******* at times. Barrera- He sometimes acts a little bitchy after fights, and wont just admit that he lost to a better fighter that night. Yes, he can be a dirty fighter too when things arent going right. And finaly, I think Pac is a bad matchup for him at any point of his career (prime for prime I think he loses 6 of 10).
This is a stupid post. First of all, I never said his power came from his handwraps, only that he was accused correctly of wrapping his hands illegally, deal with it. :deal And James Toney... your the racist my friend. :deal :good The man has failed enough drug tests to be issued an probationary ankle bracelet you moron.
Damn, with a list of favourite fighters like that, I can see now why your such a bitter boxing fan... And although this is a personal thing, I disagree with the OP that Roy was "arrogant"... I see a clear difference between "arrogant" and "cocky", and I could think of at least 10-15 guys fighting today(and most eras) that would easilly classify as arrogant before Jones (for me, anyway), who never really meant any harm by his attitude. He was just havin' fun (and he knew he could, with the skills he possessed).
atsch Oh yeah....Bernard was so scared of his power that he thoroughly embarrassed him in the ring, knocking his ass out. Oh...definately terrified. :-( Give me a ****in break.... My criticisms... Sweet Pea - The drug use. If he never got messed up in that ****, imagine what ELSE he would have accomplished... Hopkins - Toys with his opponents too much. Hardly ever really going in for the kill when it presents itself. AND, helping **** up the rematch with Jones....robbing us of what would have been THE fight of this generation. Jones Jr - Not much honestly...his resume is MUCH better than most people let on (the "fighting policemen and garbagemen" bull****). But helping sabotage the Hopkins rematch (see above) would definately warrent mentioning here. The fools who think it was all Hopkins are just blind and uneducated on the facts of what happened (or just dont like Hopkins..one or the other)...
I don't really have any criticisms of my favourite fighters, who am i, these guys are NOT robots, they are human beings who make mistakes and live life anyway.
Joe Calzaghe - For letting personal issue's get in the way of his career, for slapping too much. Bernard Hopkins - Becoming apart of the circle jerkers club, despite coming up the hard way. Winky - Same as Hopkins, ****ing sell out. Cristian Mijares - For fighting other guys' fights too often. Joan Guzman - Same as Mijares. Nate Campbell - For largely blowing his great talent. Miguel Cotto - For being dirty at times. Zab Judah - Self explanatory.:yep Evander Holyfield - For not hanging those gloves up. Mike Tyson - For mentally falling apart and becoming largely a 'what could have been' situation, despite being an ATG. JMM - For allowing himself to be mismanaged.
