The post klitschko era will be stronger....

  1. With guys like price, wilder, Pulev, Joshua all coming through, these are all big tall guys and more importantly, they are in shape, hell even tyson Fury is in shape.

The era of fat, old midgets is drawing to a close thank god.

It's just a shame it took so long and we had guys like old rahman, Briggs, sosnowski, mormeck, adamek, Charr, etc fighting for world titles

why? because no one will be cleaning the division?

  4. Good post. I agree with you. The HW Division is definitely going to be very strong in the future. If you look at the up and comers it's really something to look forward to.

First off at this Olympics, Joshua and Dychko showed flaws but showed much more potential/talent. Their ceilings are very high. They are big athletic super heavys. Let's not forget if Savon can defect and turn pro, this will be a good batch coming up.

The British Price,Fury, and a young prospect name Dillian Whyte(I Think) looks very very good. Dillian is around 6'4 and showed good power and good movement thus far. Price at 6'8 looks like he have a high ceiling as well. Price obviously have a suspect chin, but as Wladimir shown you don't really need a great chin anymore if you are a super heavy.

Kubrat Puluv is extremely impressive and although he's 31, he can hit his peak around 33 and be a main player. The Polish/Russian contingency is very impressive as well with 3-4 young up and comers.

Even the Americans with Jennings,Mitchell, and Wilder might amount to something.

And finally we have the vulture David Haye, who will feast once K2 gets older. Overall, this is shaping up to be a good-very good era.

It will seem stronger to some because the guys will likely be beating up on each other, giving the aura of strong contender or strong champion to many different fighters, whereas in the K era it has been those two and zilch else (the couple notables have lost in their steps up to the plate).

  7. People need to step back and realise the level of competition in the klitschko era was weak, that is part of why they were so dominant.

It's not insulting the klitschko brothers to say that, it's being honest.

yeah it's looking good. gonna be nice to tell my casual friends to watch a heavyweight fight again without worrying about embarrassing our sport with fatties that look like people my friends can beat up. finally starting to look like there's a crop of heavy's taking things seriously again. been a longtime coming.

I never thought we'd ever be blessed again with the level of competition we used to take for granted, like the Harrison,Skelton,Williams epics. They just don't make fights like that anymore. If only David Price would fight someone like Harrison or Skelton - unfortunately, they are way to old and past prime now. :-(

Just because guys are competitive among each other doesn't mean the division is stronger.

In 2003-2006, guys like Brewster, Briggs, Liakovich, Toney, Peter, Byrd, Ruiz and Valuev were sharing the belts. These guys were all competitive vs. each other but that didn't make the division strong.
