i don't think many people (if any) took the thread seriously that was started earlier about haye versus a prime tyson - but it says an awful lot about how the haye rollercoaster has sucked a lot of people in since he demolished enzo.

at the time frank warren took that fight because he was sure haye would be way too weight drained and he jumped at the chance before haye went up to heavyweight, which is what haye would have done earlier if warren hadn't dangled that carrot.

haye was in supreme shape for that fight and he admitted himself that his conditioning was out of this world that night.

he's got all the charisma in the world, but had to pick himself off the floor against mormeck to win that fight - and now he's going up against WK who's a formidable puncher at heavyweight.

it's true that nobody should label a fighter 'chinny' just because he's put on the canvas - it's whether you stay there or not that counts. so the haye win against mormeck was undeniably character building rather than a negative...while WK has shown his mental strength is without question for coming back from the sanders demolition to reign again.

WK is chinny and that should be a igven.

it's impossible not to like haye because he's seizing the moment and he's willing to lose face to find out how good he is - lose face (maybe) but gain respect whatever happens.

boxing needs fighters like haye but this fight is a pandora's box.

remember that sam peter is powerful but slow, so if haye can keep WK from getting settled (which is the one thing he mustn't allow), then this can be a hell of a fight if haye's power can carry to heavy.

His power will only increase moving up in weight and adding pure muscle.
    He will destroy wladimir.

If you'd posted it on the Classic you'd have got a more measured response.....

something like 'Tyson to spark Haye out for two weeks in the firt round' which, let's be honest, would've been exactly what happened. Tyson bull-rushed everyone in the first round in his prime, no way Haye deals with him or lands enough to hurt Mike, who in his Prime (and even til the end) was sturdy as Hell and took a lot of punishment before usually giving up out of exhaustion (McBride, Williams) or tried to get back up but was too far gone (Douglas, Holyfield 1)

boxing doesn't always work like that but haye was definitely struggling to hold at cruiser so this is a natural progession for him.

it really is haye's speed and power against wlad's height, reach - and power if he's allowed to use it. wlad will be happy to keep the jab as a foil for as long as he needs, but if he gets settled enough and hurts haye enough with the jab to start unloading then i seriously doubt that haye will last long.

haye has to get past that jab and that's a tall order. flair, speed and power for the smaller man need a way to to get through.

I think Wlad's chin is not chinny. Remember what you said, never think a fighter's chin is bad just because he gets put on the canvas, when he is able to still get up. I don't think Haye either is chinny like some are saying. But, I do think that when Haye gets tired, he becomes more susceptable to getting knocked down.

Haye's power will carry to Hw, look at the Barrett fight, you can see he has power here.

But, the real thing I question of Haye that will carry over to Hw, is his speed. To me, it looked to me he wasn't as fast as he is in cruiserweight. No one mentions that, but it looked like he isn't as fast.

In fact, I think Wlad is just as fast as Haye, maybe faster. I think it takes less time for Wlad's left hook to reach the opponent's chin, than Haye's left hook. Wlad's left is faster, because all Wlad has to do is turn that jab over to a quick powerful left hook. The left hook will KO Haye.

    Actually it is.
It was impossible not to like him at cruiser as he fought and beat everyone. At Heavy he beat Monte Barrett (#50?) , the rest is trash talk.

I wouldn't bet on him if the odds were 15:1 against him.

I read the whole of the post BadIntentions2 and can't really say what you\re getting at to be honest.

Basically, I think Haye is chinny. It's not just the Mormeck fight, it's the Lolenga Mock fight, where a genuine flash kd actually sends Haye sprawling all over the place.

Okay, he buys himself time (dragging Mock to the floor) and recomposes himself, but against Monte Barrett he was also KD and hurt badly (by an illegal punch no doubt but still)

I'm a massive Haye fan, and I'm hoping (and pretty certain he will) he will demolish Wlad, but there's a massive risk involved because his punch resistance isn't great.

Then again, like the Tommy Morrison's and the Herbie Hide's of the HW division, Haye has the power to save himself; also, he has speed and boxing ability as well.

I don't think his chin will be a massive liability in this fight, the angles he will create to throw his own bombs will offset even Wlad's jab IMO.

    Agreed.

I used to like David Haye. Now he is the exact type of individual I can least stand (without going down to the dregs of criminal behaviour types)

The world is filled with arrogant assholes with no respect. It is very possible not to like them.

However, strangely, women are attracted to this sort of personality type. It is a natural, lamentable part of the feminine psyche. There is an inbuilt submissiveness in their nature which is a perfect fit for overbearing egotist personalities.
Which makes me wonder about Haye's fans. His personality type is only attractive to weak-willed women.

I can't say I would go about on forums posting how much I like this personality type. Those who do are revealing more about themselves then they know, and it's more than a bit disturbing.

We don't know about Haye's power or speed the Barrett fight did not tell us anything. Haye is an unknown commodity at Heavyweight so far. Fighters do not always take their power or speed with them to a higher weight class or stamina either.

Haye will very likely enter the fight with a lot more muscle, maybe 20-25 pounds more then his CW days.
His strength will be better, and he be more able to stop Wlad bullying him.

But all that muscle will likely affect his speed. More strength with less speed may mean there is no overall increase in power. It will also mean he hits his opponent less often. It will also sap his stamina.

It is possible that he was draining himself severely to make CW - if so then he will not suffer so badly from the increase in weight.
But the fact is just about everyone drains themselves to make weight. If he really was a natural heavy all along then its likely that he would have been fighting at heavy - after all it is the marquee division with the biggest paychecks.

I think it is likely that his speed and stamina will be reduced visibly.

Ive never liked Haye because of his mouth. After he was taught a lesson by an old man (Carl Thompson) he did start to show more humility, but as soon as he started beating people again the crap started coming out of his mouth again.Mormeck was past his sell by date and still had Haye doing the funny dance.I hope Vlad knocks him out and does so after making him look silly for a few rounds.:good
