The problem for Ward is Kovalev just hits so damn hard

Sergey Kovalev is a LHW. Which means that he's pretty big guy. And he can seriously crack. He's dropping guys while flying through the air. People have died taking his power. One partially blocked shot and these guys go into their shell.

Power means a lot in the 175 pound division. And to go along with his fundamentals he will apply the power and KO Ward.

There really isn't a way Ward can win because once he feels that power he will either shell up and lose badly. Or fight back and take a KO beatdown.

 

He would have, but as soon as Kovalev dropped him in round 1 Hopkins ran away in shame. He showed his true colors that fight. He's not a warrior who goes out on his shield. He just survived and ran away like a scared puppy.

 

That's one of the main reasons why people are picking Kovalev. What is wrong focusing on power? It's boxing and you punch and the idea is to hit them hard.

 

He did cut the ring off. He backed Hopkins into corners all night. And won 12-0. But Hopkins clinched, ran, and shelled up the whole time. Because he's afraid.

 

If he uses the same tactics as Hopkins did then he can't possibly win. Because Hopkins didn't even try to win the fight. How can you win the fight if you don't try and win the fight?

 

Ward couldn't crack a wet paper bag.
