With this 'Olympic-style testing'. Where do we draw the line? I'm all for it happening for this fight, but I can't help but ask whether it'll be introduced for every fight in future. Also, if the 'Olympic-style testing' will pick up substances that simple urine tests might not detect, would that lead to other fighters thinking 'Hey, maybe I can get away with taking this if it isn't detected by a urine sample'?
I totally agree. Something has to be done. Pac's refusal to a blood test is suspicious. The cheating has got to be stopped. I hope this shite continues and our wonderful sport gets cleaned.
These who are taking illegal substances know how to hide them from the test. The drawback is that some of these substances are naturally present in the regular food/legal drugs and the distinction between the legal/illegal is very slight and based on the proper amount allowed, its not the case of the yes/no white/black mark. If the same amount of the substance is present in two man blood then the smaller man is usually in worse situation.
It's setting not only a dangerous precedent, but an unrealistic one too. As long as both fighters pass all tests, then it's a fair fight. If Pacquiao is on steroids yet passes along with Mayweather, then whats to stop Mayweather from using those same supplements? It doesn't matter whether drugs are being used as long as it's even. Both guys clean or both on roids - It doesn't matter.
