Ward is in the same vein as Hopkins. There's a lot of elite level ring craft mixed in with the awful fouling, cheating, rule bending. It's frustrating to watch, but you've got to pick out the good among the bad. That said, Kovalev still beat Ward and even with all the "headbutt craft" Kov was just too good.
Ward was a master at cheating... Excessive holding, ducking below the waist and jumping towards his opponent head first. Never enjoyed watching him
Infringements in boxing are allowed. Ward and Hopkins knew the tricks of the trade. 2 excellent fighters, love or loathe them.
It is easy to be great pro boxer if you are A side lad hometown officiated by ref and judges. Ward pro boxing level was like Ottke level, so sadly that US boxing fans hate that someone might had afforded to be hometown officiated like Andre Ward in professional boxing career. So, Ottke is the same level pro boxer as Ward and nothing more or lesser. At least no one from these two had put opponents on catchweight for title fights, short notice fights or very strange clauses like some popular " boxing idols " . This is reason why I value Ward pro career considerably higher than xx pro boxers career. Ward was really legit Olympic champ, without doubts about cards and like this. He was very good boxer, however I value him like Ottke who was very great boxer.
it doesnt take a boxing savant to see dirty tactics. he still dksab. and no i didnt watch the video, ive seen enough of fouts to know hes just trying to figure it out as he goes along. he doesnt really understand boxing. the science of it, or the art. but he knows most people are clueless about fighting in general, never mind the fine points of a system thats been getting perfected for more than 3 centuries. so he can bull**** his way through videos with the casuals none the wiser. if you know the proper reaction to any action in this dance that is boxing, you can tell who the better dancer is. you can see who is having trouble keeping in step with which move. it takes a knowledgeable and trained eye, something that is obvious to me that fouts does not have.
