The Problem with Boxing

In the old days, the best of the best fought each other. Like Muhammad Ali, George Foreman and the others. However, back then, the best boxers were more "careful" and aunty. They weren't technically advanced and quite often, it became apparent that boxing was on a lower level back then. I mean, Muhammad Ali wouldn't be able to "rope-a-dope" against Mike Tyson, for example, as Mike Tyson wouldn't pet Muhammad Ali like George Foreman did it.

Today, we have some way more dangerous fighters who actually go wild at each other, however, that's only when they actually have the balls to fight each other. Why is Mayweather and Pacquaio afraid of each other? Why do Kessler and Froch talk about a rematch when it won't happen? Why is Andre Ward scared to leave USA?

Seriosly, why can't people just be as brave as they were in the old days, but actually fight like in the modern day?

Does cash explain why people couldn't box that well in the old days? Or why the big names are scared to meet each other today?

What I loved about Super Six is, that suddenly, there was no more running. And what great matches this gave us! Kessler-Froch was awesome, same goes for Kessler-Ward, Froch vs. the wonderful Arthur Abraham, etc. And later, Froch beated Bute, but Bute made a nice honest statement and earned respect.

We get a thread bitching about this once a week.

Next month we get JCC Jr vs Martinez, and Ward vs Dawson. Terrible, ain't it...

Please, tell me about who JCC Jr and Martinez are? Good fighters? Anyways, Dawson vs. Ward will be a good fight.

There's also obviously a serious problem going on, when Mayweather's excuse for not fighting Pacquaio is that Pacquaio got a big head...

And why didn't the ancient boxers like Foreman and Muhammad Ali know how to fight aggressively?

    Strange thread.

To summarise, you don't think fighters from the 1970's were very good and you don't know who the middleweight champion of the world is?

It's true. Otherwise, how couldn't Foreman know how to hit Ali when all Ali did was leaning back and giving some soft pillow punches once a while?

"The question isn't at what age I want to retire, it's at what income" - George Foreman

Mr. Foreman was Jewish and would have made lots of money if he let himself look bad against Ali. I think that was the reason, I mean, he couldn't score so many knockouts in his career with the way he tried fighting Ali... "Uncle George coming to hug you up the ropes!"

No, but why are the modern fighters afraid of meeting each other? And yeah, the 1970's fighters didn't fight aggresively.

Froch v Kessler is happening next year after Froch fights a top 10 SM in Nov and Bute in Canada in Spring. What a *****.
