That was quite a long post and I will read it properly later but get the idea.
I think SMW has not been as strong for years. I think it was weaker during the Super 6 time than it was a few years before, as results show really.
    Faded Kessler beat Froch

Yeah a brain damaged version who almost got KTFO by Derek Edwards after coming back from a long layoff. Different Dirrell, as I'm sure you'd point out in a second if say it was GGG that dropped Dirrell instead of DeGale, RIGHT??????

You forgot to list your #1 boy at the time, superior to all of the above (or so you said), Bute! :campeon2:

Since I picked Froch with confidence to KO Bute at the time, I wouldn't say he was my boy would you?

In terms of drama and consistent excitement, I'd say the only fights out of that list that would either match or exceed Jack-DeGale would be Martinez-Williams (to exceed) and Geale-Barker (to meet, more or less). The rest either ended before the caught the same kind of fire that Jack-DeGale did, lacked quite the drama as the other two or weren't as consistently exciting throughout.

Most of them are better. Did you even watch Sturm vs Macklin! - that was an amazing fight!

Quillin/Lee is up there to I think. BJS/CEJ was exciting for the last 4-5 rounds with back and forth action but It stunk the join out for the first half of the fight so you can cross that one off. Martinez/Macklin and N'Dam/Khurtsidze deserve a mention as well.

There were just so many periods in Quillin-Lee where the fighters were inactive that it makes it hard for me to rate on the same level of a more consistently entertaining fight. I enjoyed Martinez-Macklin a lot, but it was one way traffic in the last couple of rounds, IIRC. Haven't seen N'Dam-Khurtsidze, but I imagine their styles would mesh together really well.

Prime Froch would rightly be favourite over anyone currently operating in the division but then he still has that W over one of the weights key players so of course he should.

Personally I was surprised that he didn't want the Degale payday as with his relentlessness and Degale's inability to fight at a good pace for any decent amount of time would have assured him of victory.

This said, I don't think the division is quite the wasteland CST would have us believe it is, it just isn't full of guys who we would give a chance against the best names the division has had to offer.

Martinez-Williams is a flawless masterpiece, DeGale-Jack was good, but not anywhere close to it, if anything it could be seen as a more competitive version of Martinez-Chavez Jr.
