    This is ludicrous

    Marciano:

    Total thrown punches: 97
    Total landed punches: 63
    Power punches thrown: 84
    Power punches landed: 51
    Jabs thrown: 5
    Jabs landed: 4
    Body shots thrown: 8
    Body shots landed: 8

    Moore:

    Total thrown punches: 48
    Total landed punches: 24
    Power punches thrown: 22
    Power punches landed: 10
    Jabs thrown: 23
    Jabs landed: 11
    Body shots thrown: 3
    Body shots landed: 3

Yes I compiled this data, I watched the round well over 20 times just to make this. It became painful after a while, but I had to double and triple check the numbers. What's even more insane is that Marciano didn't back up a single moment in the fight, or perhaps the miracle is that Moore got up 2 times. Marciano was surprisingly elusive until around 2:20 in the fight when he knew he had Moore hurt and walked through his counters. Moore used alot of throw away jabs to keep Marciano away.

If anyone wants to check over my totals, here's the link for the footage I used, and I'll advise you to not blink, you might miss 5 of Marciano's punches:

I heard they break down compu box numbers of classic HWs in Ali by the numbers but idk if it’s true I never read it. Heard there is a lot of interesting stats in there for many guys. Would love to see all the stats on Marciano, Frazier, All, Louis etc etc

Ah, I hope my numbers are similar to the ones in that book. Definitely something I should buy at one point

Doing God's work my friend. I would assume Marciano is one of the most active Heavies ever, if not the most active peroid.

I feel as though if all of the Charles vs Marciano 1 footage was available then Ibeabuchi vs Tua would've never been a record for most punches thrown

    Incredible workrate

Great proof for Marciano being an attrition puncher.

I did a similar count for Walcott 1. The numbers generally hovered in the 30's.

Output isn't a faucet that you just turn on and overwhelm an opponent. You need a willing foil to rack up crazy numbers.

If Rocky Marciano walked on water, you would point out that it was evidence that he couldn't swim!

Half this board thinks he did walk on water.

Nobody on this board regards him as the heavyweight goat (which he has an argument for), much less the pound for pound goat, so I do believe what you're saying is false

You are on an irrational Marciano-hating side. If you will not change that, accept it, as us Rockistas have with our endearment for the man.

I've been on here a long time and have always been adament about his greatness in a pound for pound sense. I have routinely stated that he is the head to head greatest under 200 pounds ( tho I may walk that back slightly).

Is this not good enough for the zealots?

Perhaps they just give credit where it is due?

Perhaps they just value results over physical dimensions?

Perhaps they just see the numbers?
