yeah--i'm pretty disgusted.

we just witnessed a huge fight that had multiple serious, and material flaws. That should be a totally non-partisan issue--because all core fans of this ***** of a sport to which i'm certainly addicted, ought to insist on a fair contest.

but just look at these threads....

so i'm sure there are some fans--both core and casual--that just don't like foreigners, or at least don't like the idea of Americans losing to them. But i suspect for the most part the fine group of humans in your cross-hairs are folks with almost de minimis interest in the sport of boxing, which probably explains why they're so completely indifferent about whether the playing field is level

instead what gets their attention and interest is the whole theatre leading up to the fight:

this lot's preferred entertainment is Celebrity Apprentice, Shark Tank, Deal or No Deal, and the like--to them, "boxing" is just another of those lurid psyco-dramas. Their interest isn't diminished by corrupt state boxing commissions, inept judges, etc., those things only add more drama to the theatre.

i don't claim any of this as fact, it's just my guess at explaining some absurd behaviour among some on these boards

 

Yep! THEY will take any victory they can get now days for obvious reasons! I say the other side should start playing that game too. Just strictly fight across the pond and with strictly Russian or Ukrainian judges and refs. And FREE nut shots with maybe a warning here and there. **** em!

of course, we don't know that's what happened, but it certainly could; cups get dislodged all the time during warm-up (stretching)

i wonder if the folks who are so casual about low blows have ever been in the ring. If they have then they know that even a low blow of mild force delivered with benign intent and that misses the nuts can still be a problem--because even if all it does is hit the cup, for the next minute or so that's all you can think about.

In my experience their is nothing partisan about anything regarding the fan base referenced.

Occem's razor addresses this phenomenon quite well no matter how much people want to deny this.

 

They wanted Golovkin DQ'd against Lemieux yet have NO issues with anything Ward has ever done.

 

Exactly! And those SAME rejects that have never took part in the sport or ANY combat sport for that matter are always the ones to say "You don't know **** bout boxin doe!!"
