judging by the way guerrero keeled over and landed flat on his back with that resigned look on his face, i seriously thought it was over..... the punch itself was kinda glaincing blow that landed on his temple....didn't seem like a really hard shot. guerrero probably just didn't see the punch. gotta admire the fact he got up, though...then thurman drilled him with 4 or 5 terrific shots just before the bell....i was like "damn...i hope dude doesn't kill him!" at that moment it seemed like a real possibility. btw, guerrero's "rally" in round 11 and 12 was completely ineffective...he did nothing but take more hard shots then try to maul thurman aginst the ropes....i think thurman had already punched himself out or he woulda put guerrero down again.
If Guerrero had of pushed to him the ropes like that earlier I think he could of gotten Thurman out of there he was gassing from that little bit of pressure towards the end, also Thurman doesn't have that much of an inside game, so if Robert took the risk of getting KTFO early just to get to him it may have paid off.
A lot of refs would have stepped in, I don't think too many would have complained. He was just eating hard flush shots but he did fire back eventually. He wasn't able to, Thurman too quick on his feet, too fresh in the first half of the fight and hitting too hard. To be honest, while definitely Guerrero territory the exchanges on the ropes were fairly even, Thurman was hitting him uppercut.
i didn't see robert land anything hard while he thurman pressed against the ropes...it was clear rg was buzzed and just trying to buy time. the few punches he threw were immediately returned by thurman....rg seemed a lot more interested in LOOKING like he was mounting a comeback by pressuring thurman by forcing him against the ropes than in actually LANDING any hard punches.
I think he landed one or two decent shots but yeah I know he wasn't having much success, but at least it looked he was and Thurman didn't seem to like it that much and that could have swayed a few less perceptive judges if he'd have done that from the very beginning, but with Thurman's movement and counters that would have been hard.
He didn't push him to the ropes earlier because he couldn't. Thurman was to fresh and mobile at the time. Also some of that was Thurman allowing himself to stay on the ropes, if you look at his face, he knew he wasn't in that much trouble laying on them.
Upon further review the punch that buzzed Guerrero seemed to be the left hook to the ear area, prior to the last two punches being thrown. It didn't look like the last two even landed.
Robert Guerrero was never in the fight . Easy fight for Thurman . I gave Robert 2 rnds out of generousity . But you easily can give Thurman all 12 rnds . Guerrero didn't stand a chance in hell , ive said this time and time again .
I scored it 10 rounds to 2, for Thurman. Guerrero's pressure at the end was ineffective, it just looked effective because Thurman punched himself out like you said. 1 round for Guerrero early on, I think round 3. He landed some solid shots. Then again in round 10, 11, or 12, can't remember, for mauling Thurman. Thurman lost that round IMO due to inactivity and allowing himself to be smothered. Awesome fight..
I have the Ghost a total of 3 rds He might have lost the fight but he won some fans by getting up off the floor
I gained a lot of respect for gurrero just didn't have enough to really make a push. Gave absolutely everything though
