I just read that Ricky Hatton pushed Floyd Mayweather, Jr. at their staredown. Why? I am going to play "arm chair" psychoanalyst and say his nerves and subconscious anxiety got the best of him. Hey, he is going to have plenty of chances to hit Floyd, Jr. on saturday night; why jinx yourself with "The Push"? I have noticed that in recent years that if you push your opponent at a weighn-in or staredown, you lose ... sometimes violently. Need proof? Here goes: 1. Mike Tyson PUSHES Lennox Lewis (at a press conference) and gets violently KNOCKED OUT in the 8th round. 2. Diego Sanchez PUSHES Josh Koscheck (at the weighin staredown) and loses a 3 round unamious decision. His career has been on a downside since. 3. Fernado Vargas PUSHES Oscar De la Hoya and QUESTIONS his Mexican roots. Farnando Vargas gets violently beaten up, knocked out, and busted for steriods. 4. Felix Trinidad PUSHES Bernard Hopkins (not directly, but indirectly at a press conference). Bernard Hopkins beats the #### out of Felix Trinidad, breaking his air of invincibility. I think Ricky Hatton has messed up by pushing Floyd Mayweather, Jr. Also, Floyd, Jr. seems pretty #### motivated to beat Ricky Hatton. He promises the fight will not go the distance. I BELIEVE HIM TOO! Why? He last promised that against Arturo Gatti. Sure, a doubter will say, "Jordan, he promised the same thing against Oscar De la Hoya. Why is it different with Ricky Hatton?" The reason is he "Pushed" Floyd, Jr. at a press conference. Plus, Ricky Hatton looks like Arturo Gatti (The crowd starts to boo!)
It is true that in the push-up it is the one who feels he has most to prove (underdog) who pushes (back) most...
what the ****! Why do people read so much into this incident, Ricky just pushed his chest into floyds and floyd used his arms to push ricky back, ricky was just saying that he wasnt going to be intimidated by him, if Floyd didnt push into hatton with his chest, ricky probably wouldnt have bothered with anything
So Ricky should just allow himself to be pushed around, knowing that floyd feeds off incidents like that? I think its naieve to consider ricky pushing back a sign of him wanting to prove something/anything. It was a case of not allowing himself to be bullied by the bully, which in turn will dent his ego, therefore it was the right thing to do from rickys point of view, otherwise floyd would walk away thinking "I just got to him again", so in essence, ricky did what he had to do, nothing more, nothing less
i have the window for the video on YouTube open right now and hatton hardly pushed him...just backed him up, in similar fashion that he's gonna do tomorrow night. :yep
your talking bollocks, hell, ricky should have allowed floyd to completely push him off the stage! haha, why not, because by your rules, ricky pushing back a little more, is a sign of weakness, of nerves, or whatever you think it is, but no, its just a sign he wants to take floyd and tear him a new *******
