I listened to the Povetkin fight on the radio and have just watched the highlights and Pov was too quick for the huge AJ, but wasn`t powerful enough and got blown away, I feel the quickest heavyweights would have outsped AJ unless they had weak jaws what do you think? I also don`t feel Fury or Wilder are as quick as Povetkin or don`t trow as many quick counters as Povetkin, do you agree?

I think he was powerful enough ,[see the Price fight,]it was just that, because of age his pace slowed markedly as the fight progressed, once his speed began to drop,AJ was able to settle down and begin to time him and break down his attacks by jabbing to his body before going upstairs.
Povetkin is quicker than those two but he cannot keep it up for a full fight any more.
Because of his size Povetkin has no choice but to attack and pressure, that is extremely taxing when you are 39 years old.

If you've only listened to the fight and haven't seen it how can you make any assumptions at all?
Stop adding words like heavyweights in history into your post in order to post in the Classic forum when all you want to keep talking about is Joshua Fury and Wilder. Go post that nonsense in the general. Cant believe the mods haven't picked up on your BS yet.

I can't disagree with anything said here. I might add Povetkin missed often with his best punch, the hook. Povetkin's power wasn't based on heavy hands, it more based on velocity which diminishes with age. The swarming attacker types primes often go the quickest as it requires the most stamina.

What impressed me with Joshua is how he turned the tides, the finishing final punches were very impressive.

If AJ fought a prime Ali I really don`t know who I`d root for, maybe I should have posted this in the general forum, who cares?

AJ is great at blocking hooks, he always keeps his right glove close to his chin, he blocked 6 of Wlad`s hooks while he was in serious trouble after the knockdown.

Povetkin missed badly on some of his hooks. Yes, AJ watches out for hook, but his defense is by no means good.

I see a great foundation in AJ and impressed with his recupritive spirit, he is also learning to think. Povetkin close to 40 but still dangerous and effective.

What I like about AJ the most is his powerful combinations. He was too heavy and bulky in a few of his last fights but his weight was in the 240's for Povetkin and he had speed of combo.

AJ like Louis and Lewis and Vlad & Marciano he is not the speediest but once he lands a solid blow he follows up in a pretty quick combo of power shots.

Also AJ's jab was effective. Can he overcome Wilders power? AJ does get hit but the question would also be can Wilder overcome AJ'spower.

At this point in time AJ has been in against Vlad and Povetkin although many are 40 ish heavyweights
