Lets face it John Ruiz is best US heavyweight at this point, better then Brock, better then Byrd, better then Rahman. Lets let Ruiz get the next shot at winner of Wladimir vs Brewster:happy

By God I'll swallow a cyanide pill laced with arsenic before I ever concede to that as the truth.

His losses were not really a cut and dried loss, so he's not been really beaten decisively in a long time.............., and he is certainly one of the best two or three american heavies, even though I think Ruiz is not really American, is he? LOL

Isn't he Puerto Rican maybe? I know Toney was making fun of him by wearing a big Sombrero at their pre fight meeting......LOL

If he is American, I'd say he and Brock would be the two best American heavies. Byrd was beaten so badly that I can't acknowledge him much anymore. LOL

I didn't see either, but I think that neither the Valuev or Chagaev losses were a decisive loss for Ruiz.

Yeah, but Ruiz would of been beaten just as bad or worse if he fought Klitschko. Ruiz's leg humping style of fighting would be suicide , walking into jabs, and right hands of Klitschko.

Ruiz is very American. I think he's from Massachusettes, maybe Boston, but his fighting spirit does not embody that of an American. He should have been born in Manchester or somewhere similar.

It's a pathetic state of affairs when Ruiz is regarded as the best heavy the US has.

hate to say it but there was actually a point in time when Ruiz was doing more than Byrd and Rachman, Brock shouldn't even be mentioned...but "HuggyBear" is finished now and the best heavy that resides in America is Sam Peter...

I honestly hope Ruiz vs Klitschko happens.

It's not the best thing for the division, it's strictly for my selfish wish to see Huggy Bear get destroyed.

Finished? Merely cause he lost close decisions to two of the top heavies?

Ruiz is far from finished, by fellow fight fans. In fact, .............(cups hand to ear).........I think I hear the might engine of The Quiet Man Express, start to belch black smoke from its might stacks, and slowly come to life, once again.

Get Stoney on the phone, we've got a title to win back!!!!!!!

    ALL ABOARD!!!!!!!

Ruiz is a ****ing JOKE always was and always will be.
He wrestled his way to many a gift decision and his best punch is the RIGHT HAND ON THE BREAK:good

THe great Bearded Warrior has been the best American heavy since 2000s win over Holyfield and Lewis' blatant ducking after his sneky right hand so devastated Lewis in sparring that he was banned from ever sparring with him ever again.

In all seriousness, I think Ruiz is far from finished, seeing as how noone can decisively beat the man (noone can beat Ruiz like Tua can. :blood )

That said, I'd love to see Ruiz get in there with Sammy Peter, Brewster, or Wlad Klitschko. :good

Ruiz is better than he's given credit for on this site. Sure, his clinching is hard to watch, but you fail to admit that his clubbing right hand is damned effective as he's lunging in to clinch. He peppered Golota with it over and over again in the last half of their fightm and has clubbed his way through a string of name opponents, before his last two losses, when Valuev and Chagaev both won by apparently close decisions.

Ruiz will rise again, certainly. But if he gets in with one of the hard punchers I mentioned, he'll fall just as quickly. :good

I bet Brewster would take his head off with an uppercut as he comes lunging in. That's the key to dropping Ruiz, from what I've seen. Time and catch him coming in with a short uppercut to the beard.

Look at the top US heavies out side of Brewster Ruiz beats them all

    # 1 Rahman, Ruiz beat him already
    # 2 Holyfield, Ruiz beat him already
    # 3 Toney, washed up
    # 4 Holmes, Not on Ruiz level
    # 5 Brock, Ruiz I think beats him
    # 6 Byrd, damaged goods
    # 7 Williamson, I think Ruiz beats him
    # 8 Mollo, not at Ruiz level
    # 9 Austin, not on Ruiz level
    # 10 Thompson, I think Ruiz out works him:deal
