Sharmba Mitchell against Tszyu and Orlin Norris against Tyson. Both gutless performance.

Nigel Benn quit like a dog against Watson and Collins (twice).

Strange because there was zero quit in him in the McClellan fight….. most inconsistent fighter, and man, ever.

Acelino Freitas against Chico Corrales. Two years later Popo returned to the lightweight world champions with a victory on points (SD) over Zahir Raheem.

Rigo as well. Unlike Walters he had injured his hand, though.

I don't really like this question very much.

We are not paying to see a public execution in boxing.

There are scenarios where quitting is the rational move.

There are scenarios where you as the cornerman, would have thrown the towel.

Tyson quit against Holyfield (by intentionally fouling out), Danny Williams (claiming injury) and Kevin McBride (claiming he’d lost the hunger for fighting despite trying plenty hard enough in the first couple of rounds to take McBrides head off but then quitting when Kev toughed it out unlike Mikey).

Yet Tyson to this day gets favoured by certain deniers to beat anyone from Ali to Godzilla. I don’t buy that. He was great but a front runner pure and simple.

Don’t think Liston should be on the list. He was considered almost unbeatable before meeting clay/ali an yeah you’re right, he did quit twice in consecutive fights against him but he never accomplished anything after that. Didn’t come close to winning or even fighting for the title again

I know it's against the grain, but Duran was never a quitter in my eyes; he didn't take a knee or sit there as the ref counted him out. His inability to control his emotions led to the No Mas debacle. It's like saying Oliver McCall was a quitter because he cried against Lennox; they were both warriors who allowed their emotions to boil over.

Quitting is not in their make-up; it was other factors. I'm also reluctant to label any pro boxer a quitter; they risk their lives every time they get in the ring for our entertainment, and because they don't fight until they get a brain injury, we consider them as somehow flawed and even label them as weak and "quitters" - not for me.

Ive learned that its really hard to assess who is really quitting and who is not in boxing because we cant tell what type of injury a boxer has. Had Gerard McClellan given up before round ten of his fight with Nigel Benn Im sure many here would be using the word quitter in a negative way. Ferdie Pacheco basically said he quit before knowing the exact situation.

And I used to see Edwin Rosario as a quitter because of his rematch with Jose Luis Ramirez but we dont know how out he really was before turning his back He had to be real out of there. He would have been more justified to quit on the Chavez fight but did not.

But if want to say he quit, Chapo definitely qualifies ad someone who achieved more after quitting.
