So obviously I've never boxed before but when I watch some fights of Fres oquendo versus Clifford Etienne it makes me wonder how much cardio does one have to do to get to that level of boxing. Fres is basically boxing and dancing around on his feet he weighs about 220 and I'm assuming the pressure being put on him didn't help with making things easier. I also imagine the lungs will be burning after 3 minutes of each round with only 1 minute to rest in between each. Also I've run 2.5 MI did it in about half an hour but it seems to be the standard the most boxers do at least 5 mi a day for road work. How many sparring rounds do they need to go to get ready for a fight? How many sparring partners? What does weight training look like ? Is it simply lightweight lifted hundreds of times or do they really put on the Mass by pushing heavy weight? What about their schedules of hours like? How many gym sessions must they do in one day and how long each one with emphasis on what kind of workout? Any pros or amateurs on here with experience? Please share. Or even MMA as well, as that's another whole monster, 5 min rounds 1 min break etc.
The pros I knew trained twice a day. A sessision on the morning and another one on the afternoon. They did the cardio (I mean, they run) while the first session. But I guess that every trainer has his style and way of working, so.... It is something that has always amazed me, how the people on tv can do those 12 rounds at this rithm. It's like a marathon. Amazing. I would invite you to hit the heavy bag for 12 rounds, to have an idea about what's that. Just 12 rounds hitting the heavy bag, just this, easy freaking mode. That's not easy at all, you end completely exhausted. After you do that, imagine now that the heavy bag is hitting you back. Honestly, for me it is unbelievable. They earn every penny the get, no doubt.
