I have just discovered a load of mainly 1990s boxing mags from Britain and the States.

I know a few people like discussing/looking at the ratings of fighters from different era's.

So on this thread I will list some of what I have got, I will stick it all on the one thread so as not the clog up the board.

So for Starters I will start at my earliest point of reference:

The Ring did not have rating for their first magazine (Feb 15 1922), but they did have a page which was entitled:

They hold the limelight in the field of fistic sport:

    These fighters were:

    Jack Dempsey (World's Heavyweight Champion)

    Johnny Dundee (130-pound champion)

    Jack Britton (Welterweight champion)

Harry Wills (Foremost negro Heavyweight, who is hot on Dempsey's trail)

Harry Greb (Pittsburgh middleweight, who is eager to relieve Johnny Wilson of his crown, but can't get the elusive champion in the ring)

Lew Tendler (Philadelphia's foremost contender for the lightweight championship)

Gene Tunney (Newly crowned American light heavyweight champion)

Midget Smith (New York's sensational bantam, whose championship prospects look bright)

Tom Gibbons (St Paul heavyweight, spoken of as most likely opponent for Georges Carpentier)
