Against the 80 s alphabet champs? If George fresh from his ko of Frazier, then faced any of the alphabet boys, would you be confident any would see the last round?
Witherspoon, Smith, and Weaver could go the distance if all of them were in their own respective primes.
Would, then. Witherspoon had insanely impressive defense and a strong chin, Smith looked to have nigh infinite reserves of energy (Even if he couldn't put them to proper use), and Weaver only got knocked out against Holmes in his prime.
Well that answers my initial question. I imagine, “alphabet boys” excludes Holmes, but the OP will need to clarify. I make Holmes a fractional underdog against prime Foreman. The rest of the ’80’s crowd, substantially moreso.
Nothing can touch the raw invincibility of 70's FORTEman and that 70's bone density. He'd benchpress a few cows, and then knock them all out on the same night.
Yeah I don’t see Larry campaigning with picket signs for a fight with young George but I think he would acquit himself well if he got in the ring. He made it difficult sometimes but I think highly of Holmes.
You must be very impressed with Tyson, then. I’m 40 & an average Joe & I look more impressive physically than 28-year-old Holmes, who had rake arms & no definition. Sometimes genetics plays a part though, as Holmes had good endurance.
