Your point? Do you know how long it takes for a case to go to the supreme court? Its not an overnight process, and in most cases I've read the incidents took place YEARS before. Nothing unusual avout that what so ever.
OP made no mention of primes or ages. If he had, then Ali's names goes down to Foreman. Liston was old, Frazier was past his best in the 2 rematches.
My point is the SC decision had nothing to do with Ali's decision to refuse to go into the military since it happened years later. Your earlier post referred to the SC decision for a reason that I can't fathom.
Ali refused to be drafted because he was a objector to the war. He was arrested. A jury of his peers found him guilty of draft evasion. When you are convicted of a crime, you can appeal. Ali appealed, was denied, then appealed again to the supreme court . The supreme court receives literally. hundreds of thousands of appeal request a year; they will only rule on the cases they feel need to be resolved for future case law. They decided Ali's case was significant enough to rule on. When they ruled, all 8 justices overturned Ali's conviction. Why? Because the government was wrong when they arrested Ali for refusing to be conscripted. So yes, the Supreme Court decision has EVERYTHING to do with his refusal to be drafted for the Supreme Court validated Ali's refusal to be conscripted; their reasoning was that when Ali was arrested his religious beliefs were not taken into consideration. Hopefully this gives you a better understanding of the American court system.
Not really aware of much old testament stuff. I just know there seems to be an infidel problem in this world right now.
Look dude, I am an attorney. I think I understand the American judicial system just fine. I was also in the military when all this stuff involving Ali was going on so I think I know a little bit more about that than you also. Ali had no idea how it would turn out when he refused induction. He showed courage by refusing to go in even though he was told he would never see action. I spent three years in S.E. Asia and I applauded him for his convictions.
Liston was seen invincible, Fraizer was no more past it than Ali and Foreman was seen invincible as well as much much fresher than Ali. Holyfield was prime when he fought both senior citizens.
You are correct.....Ali should have had his religious beliefs honored, because we all know that Muslims never fight in wars. atsch
