it's not necessarily true that prime tyson is in the 80ies.

It could very well be that prime tyson is in the 90ies. When he was 30+, the best age for a heavyweight. He beat a lot of good guys there. The only one he lost against was Holyfield when he gassed (TKO11). But Holyfield was probably on steroids anyway, so that loss has to be seen in that light, too.

I NEVER EVER STATED THAT. Instead I stated that fights which are WARS FOR 12+ rounds (because both fighters have a weak punch but strong chin) can be perceived as much more worthy than a fight where one fighter is dominating and KOs the opponent.

"Wow, Frazier gave Ali everything for 12+ rounds but Ali pervailed. Ali is sooo good". Completely wrong conclusion. The more correct conclusion would be: 1) Ali couldn't keep Frazier at bay (bad defense/good chin) 2) Ali has failed to KO Frazier (bad attack/weak fists)

Ali is #1 on my list. On my amount-of-clinching list.

There is some truth in these statements. I agree about Roy I think with fighters like Tarver, Johnson, Griffin and DM Jones actually fought in quite a good light heavyweight era.

Though I have to say the current heavyweight division is dire. Thompson looked terrible even before he fought Wlad. Thompson would have never gotten a sniff of a title shot back in the 90's. In the 90's I was excited by contenders like Tua, Ibeabuchi, Golota, Hide and many others, before they even stepped up in class. Having seen the current crop of young heavyweights I am severly underwhelmed. There is nobody with even half the talent of the fighters I have just mentioned. Wlad stands alone in the current division like a colossus surrounded by a sea of mediocrity.

Buncey was talking a lot of pish about the likes of Bonecrusher, Tony Tubbs and Greg Page giving Wlad a better fight than Tiger Tony last night. Tubbs was a fat guy journeyman and Page a glorified sparring partner. These guys all fought snoozefest fights against each other in their so called primes. Wlad would KO the lot of them on the same night.

It's because after Wlad there aren't any good heavyweights.

    Ibragimov? Please.

    Thompson? Slow, soft, and awkward.

Wlad seems to look less and less dominant lately, though he is the best of a pretty bad bunch of Heavyweights. Wlads KO doesnt mean **** imo, look at Valuevs, it's pretty high as well, and he's far from a knockout artist. I think Wlad is a good Heavyweight, but lack what it takes to be great, which is his very weak chin and fragile pysche. It seems anytime he's pressured or gets hit solid, he looks like a little girl getting sprayed with a squirt gun, at times it's down right embarassing.

All in all, this Heavyweight crop is filled with mostly fat asses, injury prone, 40 something fighters who still can compete because of lack of talent in the division. I feel the Heavyweights of now are no better than than the Heavyweights of the 80's, Tyson and Holmes>Wlad and whoever

It's not a weak heavyweight division but rather a very weak talent wise... US representation in the Heavies !

I think it's time to create a Super Heavyweight Division...
    and Eliminate the Cruiser's.

    225> Heavyweight Limit
    226+> Super Heavyweight Division

another thing whichmakes it sound real bad is that when you compare it to other divisions such as lightweight or welterweight it makes it look even worse

The reason the usa says the division is weak is because our media is anti white. I think wlad is way over rated but its not cause he's white its because of his chin. Our media over here is ****ed up. Our media will never give anyone credit if there not from here for example Lennox Lewis.

to a large extent what makes it weak is that it is happening right now. By and large, an era needs to marinate about ten years or so for the stock of the fighters in it to rise. Most people are gun shy about calling someone great while those guys are in the middle of their careers. Every top fighter has had critical fans and media when they are on top.
