The thing is, is that when Lennox Lewis was fighting the heavyweight division was considered weak. That's going back a decade and more. With time people have seem to forgot that, or now for some reason give the division back then more credibility. Even before that, prime Tyson was considered to be in a weak division.

Maybe it's just because the Heavies have had such great past golden ages that everything else looks poor.

If they both came out of shape, and unmotivated. If they are both on point, Wlad loses.

The HW division is weak. Vlad can only fight if stiffs and win. He would be knocked by every top HW of the 70''s, 80's and early 90's. Period.

No. If a guy who has three losses to journeymen / gatekeepers during his prime is dominating the division, that means the division sucks. Same if Nate Campbell were to suddenly start dominating the lightweights, then we've probably all overrated that division.

Brewster is no journeyman. Wlad avenged that lose. So than you are saying Mccall and Rahman are journeyman. Go read and book and get some sense. Boxing nobrains should be ur name.

Ridiculous analogy, the division is considered weak because it is a load of fat, unskilled plodders for the most part who would not even be frine contenders back in the 90's.

Wlad is the best of a poor bunch, but even he has been beat by three crap fighters, he is only just starting to dominate a crap division.

Athletes KEEP getting better. Its impossible to think that somehow this crop of fighters got worse with improved diet and training, medicine etc etc

He avenged his loss to Brewster easily. So Lewis must not know what he is talking about right? Wlad has been the Dominate champion/fighter/ ko machine/destroyer of undefeated fighters/ and consistent fighter sense Lewis. Three years straight. Four by xmas.

you know, it's a funny thing, i was just talking to a friend this morning, thinking about the heavy weight division. thinking about mohamed ali, etc. i watched all those fights as wee lad. the rope-a-dope!
were his fights really anymore exciting than the fights today, even than klitschko/ ibragimov fight, even the ruiz fights?????
when i step back to think about it, not really.
how about the lewis/ tua fight?
has lennox ever faced a south paw, yet alone the four klitschko has faced?
he had an oportunity to face byrd, backed then he could have faced corrie sanders!!!!!
you know mohamed ali was charismatic, lennox tall, but the klitschkos' clean cut well rounded, grounded, no trash talking boy's, exciting, dominant, great role models, and good for sports!!!!!
granted his style has changed since his beautiful boxing masterpiece against mercer!! but never the less agreat boxer.
the heavy weight division is as good or better than it's ever been, but now it is globally diverse, enjoy this time now!!!!!!!!

Dont talk rubbish. All you would have in the Super HW division just about is Valuez, Wlad and Toney. And Wlad could probably make 225 at a push.

Why do you complain about Lennox Lewis?

... seriously there is a few factors combined:

    1) no single really excitiong boxer active at the top:
    Peter failed with his abilities,
    Wlad too cautious and clinching,
    Chagaev ... injuries,
Haye talk, talk talk no walk,
    Toney ... steroid addicitive
Golota ... who the heck is he going to fight?

    2) best man is no US citizen so all US media are claiming
that it is possible only if the division is weak.

    3) No unified/dominant champion since Lennox

it's simple really. all the great big athletes are leaning towards football. think about it. it's less physically demanding. it can get you into college, big or small. the rewards are larger and faster. boxers have to go years of making ends meat before making it big.

i'm sure all the heavy's now are just football/rugby rejects who couldnt make it.
